چکیده
The authors in Octorber 1975 encountered a case that visited their hospital with the chief complaint of deformity of both middle fingers. The case closely resembled brachyhyperphalangism, but no definite diagnosis could be obtained as a findings suggestive of deltaphalanx was present in some phalanges and some ·took the view that polydactylous change of the middle finger was suggested. However, because numerous deltaphalanges were found in both index and middle fingers in a younger sister bone five years later, both of the cases were diagnosed as belonging to the category of what hand surgeons of Japan maintain is cleft hand group. However, there are literature which describe cases like these two as typical cases of brachydactyly, and it was considered that study would have to be made in future whether brachydactyly and cleft hand group had some parts of their developmental mechanism in common or whether the concept of brachydactyly is as yet unestablished. 747 views are shown in Fig. 2. Clinical Report Brachydactylic Multiple Delta Phalanges Plus Syndrome
Delta phalanges are unusual, shortened bones of the hands and feet with abnormal epiphyses and diaphyses. Here, we report on a patient with a unique multiple congenital anomaly syndrome that includes brachydactyly consisting of multiple delta phalanges in several digits of the hands and feet. The patient, who was born to consanguineous parents, had several other congenital anomalies, including ...
متن کاملRetinitis pigmentosa, metaphyseal chondrodysplasia, and brachydactyly: an affected brother and sister.
A brother and sister, children of normal parents are described. They had retinitis pigmentosa, causing near-blindness as a result of very narrow fields of vision, associated with metaphyseal chondrodysplasia and marked shortening of the metacarpals and terminal phalanges. Autosomal recessive inheritance is suggested with a common biochemical cause for all these defects. This apparently new asso...
متن کاملIsolated Bilateral Triphalangeal Thumb with Delta Phalanx: A Case Report
Triphalangeal thumb is characterized by the interposition of an extra-phalanx between two normal ones. In this article the authors present the case of a 24-year-old man with bilateral triphalangeal thumb of opposable type, without any other associated anomaly or genetic syndrome. The patient had triangular delta extra-phalanxes that caused ulnar deviation of both thumbs. Surgical procedure for ...
متن کاملHyperphalangism accompanied by brachydactyly of the feet: a case report.
Asymptomatic symmetrical hyperphalangism of the fingers accompanied by foot anomalies is very rare. We present a 21-year-old man with anomalies in both hands and feet. He had short little, index, and middle fingers, long ring fingers, and clinodactyly of the little finger. He also had symmetrical brachydactyly of both feet. There were no other skeletal anomalies and his family members were norm...
متن کاملCorrection of thumb angulations after physiolysis of delta phalanges in a child with Rubinstein–Taybi syndrome: a case report
Resection of the midzone of the continuous epiphysis of a delta phalanx (physiolysis) and its replacement by a free-fat graft from local tissue was performed to improve severe radial angulation of the both thumbs in a 22-month-old child with Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome. Fifty-two months after surgery, satisfactory results were obtained for pinch function, appearance, and radiographic findings. Pr...
