LapDog: Local Resource Discovery in Ad-Hoc p2p Systems

چکیده

The availability of reliable network coordinate systems gives us the potential to build ad-hoc p2p local resource discovery systems. Motivated by the shortcomings of existing p2p topologies in fulfilling this cause, we propose a Meta-Overlay Graph that enables us to use any existing p2p system to perform local resource discovery. This paper also proposes a way of confining query messages to small groups of nodes and yet allowing data to spread freely in the system. Our experimental results show that our system is capable of reducing message transmissions in such ad-hoc p2p system by 90% compared to conventional approaches.
