چکیده
OBJECTIVES To review the epidemiological aspects of fractures of the tibial plateau in a level one hospital. METHODS We retrospectively analyzed 239 tibial plateau fractures treated surgically. We took into account age, gender, trauma mechanism, classification of the injuries, associated injuries and affected side. RESULTS 168 were male, the fifth decade has been the most affected, the mechanism of trauma, car accident was the main causal fator, 128 cases were on the left side and 22,6% had associated injuries. CONCLUSIONS Most patients were male, in the fifth decade of life, and victim of traffic accidents, and the depression and shear fractures of the tibial plateau are the most frequent. Associated lesions were infrequent in our study. Level of Evidence II, Prognostic Studies. Investigating the Effect of a Patient Characteristic on the Outcome of Disease.

Background: In the challenging tibial condyle fractures despite anatomical joint reconstruction, development ofosteoarthritis may still occur secondary to the initial articular cartilage and meniscal injury. The aim of the study wasto know incidence of osteoarthritis in our operated cases of tibial plateau fracture and to evaluate functional outcome. Methods: Our operated 60 patients of tibial p...

The purpose of this study was to define the trends in fracture complexity and overall injury severity of orthopedic trauma patients at a level I trauma center. A retrospective review of a prospectively collected trauma database was performed to determine the Injury Severity Score (ISS) and AO/OTA classification of the most common fractures among all patients presenting from 1995 to 1999 and fro...
متن کاملSecond Place Award Immediate versus delayed operative treatment of low-energy tibial plateau fractures
BACKGROUND Current management of tibial plateau fractures requires careful soft-tissue management. Often a staged approach with temporary external fixation followed by delayed internal fixation is recommended. While proven in high-energy injuries, its relevance in treating low-energy fractures has not been investigated. The goal of the current study was to assess the short-term complication rat...

Background: Proper knee function is essential for daily activity. Since almost all complex tibial plateau fractures involve soft tissue compromise, there is some controversy as to the best treatment method. Currently, progress toward indirect reduction and external fixation, such as the hybrid external fixator, with minimal complications is underway. Herein we evaluate the outcomes of complex t...
