Search for DCC in relativistic heavy-ion collisions : Possibilities and Limitations
نویسنده
چکیده
The experimental observation of disoriented chiral condensate is affected due to various physical and detector related effects. We study and quantify the strength of the experimental signal, “neutral pion fraction” within the framework of a simple DCC model, using the analysis methods based on the multiresolution discrete wavelet technique and by evaluating the signal to background ratio. The scope and limitations of DCC search in heavy-ion collision experiments using various combination of detector systems are investigated. PACS. Search for Dcc in Relativistic Heavy-ion Collision through Event Shape Analysis
Event shape analysis has been used to look for DCC signals in simulated ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collision data at SPS energy. A simple redistribution of particles, with two detectors to detect charged particles and photons, is seen to result in the same flow direction with the flow angle difference peaking at zero. However, events where the neutral pion fraction has been modified according ...
متن کاملModeling Magnetic Field in Heavy ion Collisions Using Two Different Nuclear Charge Density Distributions
By studying the properties of matter during heavy-ion collisions, a better understanding of the Quark-Gluon plasma is possible. One of the main areas of this study is the calculation of the magnetic field, particularly how the values of conductivity affects this field and how the field strength changes with proper time. In matching the theoretical calculations with results obtained in lab, two diffe...
متن کاملDissipation, noise and DCC domain formation
The possibility of forming disoriented chiral condensate (DCC) in relativistic heavy ion collisions has generated considerable research activities in recent years. The idea was first proposed by Rajagopal and Wilczek [1–4]. They argued that for a second order chiral phase transition, the chiral condensate can become temporarily disoriented in the nonequilibrium conditions encountered in heavy i...
متن کاملNegative Elliptic Flow from Anomaly Induced DCC Formation
We discuss characteristic experimental signatures related to the mechanism of DCC formation triggered by the chiral U(1) anomaly in relativistic heavy ion collisions. We predict an enhancement of the fraction of neutral pions compared with all pions in the direction perpendicular to the scattering plane. To quantify the effect on the angular distribution of neutral pions, we compute the ellipti...
متن کاملExperimental Signatures of Anomaly Induced DCC Formation
We discuss possible experimental signatures related to the formation of domains of disoriented chiral condensate (DCC) triggered by the axial anomaly in relativistic heavy ion collisions. Our predictions make use of the feature of the anomaly effect that is coherent over a large region of space, but opposite in sign above and below the ion scattering plane. We predict an enhancement of the frac...
