Estimation of finite population parameters with auxiliary information and response error.

چکیده
We use a finite population mixed model that accommodates response error in the survey variable of interest and auxiliary information to obtain optimal estimators of population parameters from data collected via simple random sampling. We illustrate the method with the estimation of a regression coefficient and conduct a simulation study to compare the performance of the empirical version of the proposed estimator (obtained by replacing variance components with estimates) with that of the least squares estimator usually employed in such settings. The results suggest that when the auxiliary variable distribution is skewed, the proposed estimator has a smaller mean squared error.

Effect of Measurement Errors on a Class of Estimators of Population Mean Using Auxiliary Information in Sample Surveys
We consider the problem of estimation the population mean of the study variate Y in presence of measurement errors when information on an auxiliary character X is known. A class of estimators for population means using information on an auxiliary variate X is defined. Expressions for its asymptotic bias and mean square error are obtained. Optimum conditions are obtained for which the mean...
متن کاملComparison of Small Area Estimation Methods for Estimating Unemployment Rate
Extended Abstract. In recent years, needs for small area estimations have been greatly increased for large surveys particularly household surveys in Sta tistical Centre of Iran (SCI), because of the costs and respondent burden. The lack of suitable auxiliary variables between two decennial housing and popula tion census is a challenge for SCI in using these methods. In general, the...
متن کاملNeural Networks for calibration estimation of finite population parameters
Calibration is commonly used in survey sampling to include auxiliary information at the estimation stage. Calibrating the observation weights on the population means (or totals) of the auxiliary variables implicitly assumes on a linear superpopulation regression model. When auxiliary information is available for all units in the population, more complex modeling can be handled by means of model...

Abstract. This Article introduce method of ranked set sampling with replacement (RSSWR) in finite population and express how to computing samples of inclusion probability for this method. The Horvitz-Thompson and Hansen-Hurwtz estimators using auxiliary variables introduce for this design and use 2011-12 Urban Households Income and Income and Expenditure survey data, gathered for Tehran by stat...
متن کاملOn Presentation a new Estimator for Estimating of Population Mean in the Presence of Measurement error and non-Response
Introduction According to the classic sampling theory, errors that are mainly considered in the estimations are sampling errors. However, most non-sampling errors are more effective than sampling errors in properties of estimators. This has been confirmed by researchers over the past two decades, especially in relation to non-response errors that are one of the most fundamental non-immolation...
