چکیده

IPv6, the successor of current IP (IPv4), is now under development. Mobility support is one of the requirements for IPv6. This paper proposes a protocol for mobility support in IPv6. The proposed protocol is based on the mechanisms of Virtual Internet Protocol (VIP), which provides mobility in IPv4. Two Hop-by-Hop options are added to support mobility, one for user data and another for control. The proposed protocol provides routing optimization and authentication mechanisms as well as seamless mobility. This paper also proposes an extension of the state transition diagram of TCP for quick resumption of TCP communication when a mobile node reconnects to the network.

VIP-WAVE: On the Feasibility of IP Communications in 802.11p Vehicular Networks

Vehicular communications networks, such as 802.11p/WAVE, are becoming a fundamental platform for providing real-time access to safety and entertainment information. In particular, infotainment applications —and consequently IPbased communications— are key to leverage market penetration and deployment costs of the 802.11p/WAVE network. However, the operation and performance of IP in 802.11p/WAVE...

Localized Management for Proxy Mobile IPv6

Proxy Mobile IPv6 is a promising protocol for supporting mobility. Unlike Mobile IPv6, which is based on hostmobility, the Proxy Mobile IPv6 is based on network-based mobility so that it can remove additional implementations on a Mobile Node (MN). Due to this feature, Proxy Mobile IPv6 has been considered as a better protocol than Mobile IPv6 in supporting mobility. However, PMIPv6 still has a ...

Inter-Domain Roaming Mechanism Transparent to Mobile Nodes among PMIPv6 Networks

In Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6), when a Mobile Node (MN) enters a PMIPv6 domain and attaches to an access link, the router on the access link detects attachment of the MN by the link-layer access. All elements of PMIPv6 including the router then provide network-based mobility management service for the MN. If the MN moves to another router in this PMIPv6 domain, the new router emulates attachment...

Network-based Localized IP mobility Management: Proxy Mobile IPv6 and Current Trends in Standardization

IP mobility support has been a hot topic over the last years, recently fostered by the role of IP in the evolution of the 3G mobile communication networks. Standardization bodies, namely IETF, IEEE and 3GPP are working on different aspects of the mobility aiming at improving the mobility experience perceived by users. Traditional IP mobility support mechanisms, Mobile IPv4 or Mobile IPv6, are b...

On Providing Flow Transparent Mobility Support for IPv6-based Wireless Real-time Services

With the natural convergence of wireless communications and Internet technology, mobile real-time services such as wireless mobile Internet telephony will be ubiquitous. Since the emerging Third Generation (3G) wireless networks will adopt Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), simultaneous Quality of Service (QoS) and mobility support in IPv6 is becoming an imperative need. The Internet Engineeri...
