Optimal Public Transport Pricing: Towards an Agent-based Marginal Social Cost Approach
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper, marginal cost-pricing rules are applied to an agent-based model. User-specific optimal bus fares are estimated by simulating user interactions at a microscopic level. We consider external effects of prolonged in-vehicle and waiting times (including the effect of full buses on boarding denials) induced by passengers boarding vehicles. We give a new-look to the relationship between optimal fare and travel distance, which is found to depend crucially on the type of external cost that is considered when calculating fares. Conditions for optimal bus fares that increase or decrease as a function of trip length are numerically found. MC-ICAM Approach to Pricing in Transport
Availability: Public (only once status above is "Accepted") The question whether marginal cost pricing should be applied in the transportation sector has attained a great deal of attention during the last few years. It is argued that marginal cost pricing, or marginal social cost pricing – a term used when one wishes to emphasise that the pricing is applied by a government / regulator – would s...
متن کاملDeveloping an urban congestion pricing model by considering sustainability improvement and using a multi-objective optimization approach
This paper introduces a Travel Demand Management (TDM) model in order to decrease the transportation externalities by affecting on passengers’travel choices. Thus, a bi-objective bi-modal optimization model for road pricing is developed aiming to enhance environmental and social sustainability by considering to minimize the air pollution and maximize the social welfare as its objectives. This m...

Improving Long Run Marginal Cost based Pricing along with Extended Benefit Factor method for Revenue Reconciliation of Transmission Network in Restructured Power System
Abstract : There are several methods to cover the costs of a transmission system and distribution networks. These methods are divided into either incremental or marginal approaches, which can be either long-term or short-term. The main difference between the incremental and marginal approach is how to calculate the cost of using the network. In the incremental approach, simulation and in the ma...
متن کاملTransmission Cost Allocation in Restructured Power Systems Based on Nodal Pricing Approach by Controlling the Marginal Prices
This paper presents a method to allocate the transmission network costs to users based on nodal pricing approach by regulating the nodal prices from the marginal point to the new point. Transmission nodal pricing based on marginal prices is not able to produce enough revenue to recover the total transmission network costs. However, according to the previous studies in this context, this met...
