Relative Spatial Pose Estimation for Autonomous Grasping
نویسندگان
چکیده
A technique for nding the relative spatial pose between a robotic end e ector and a target object to be grasped without a priori knowledge of the spatial relationship between the camera and the robot is presented. The transformation between the coordinate system of the camera and the coordinate system of the robot is computed dynamically using knowledge about the location of the end e ector relative to both the camera and the robot. A previously developed computer vision technique is used to determine the pose of the end e ector relative to the camera. The robot geometry and data from the robot controller is used to determine the pose of the end e ector relative to the robot. The spatial transformation between the robot end effector and the target object is computed with respect to the robot's coordinate system. The algorithm was demonstrated using a 5-degree of freedom robot and an RGB camera system. The camera can be dynamically positioned without concern for an assumed spatial relationship between the camera and robot allowing optimization of the view of the object and the end e ector. Further, the iterative nature of the grasping algorithm reduces the e ects of camera calibration errors.

Close-proximity operations are increasingly a topic of interest, where satellites manoeuvre within a very small distance of other spacecraft. A high degree of accuracy is required in estimating the relative position and orientation of the other spacecraft, in order to conduct such manoeuvres safely. Traditionally, active systems such as radar or more recently Differential GPS have been used for...

متن کاملA Neural Dynamic Architecture for Reaching and Grasping Integrates Perception and Movement Generation and Enables On-Line Updating
Reaching for objects and grasping them is a fundamental skill for any autonomous robot that interacts with its environment. Although this skill seems trivial to adults, who effortlessly pick up even objects they have never seen before, it is hard for other animals, for human infants, and for most autonomous robots. Any time during movement preparation and execution, human reaching movement are ...
