Stromal Filters in Automated Immunostain Scoring
نویسندگان
چکیده
KI-67 is a marker for cell proliferation which binds a nuclear antigen and is thus a prime antibody in immunohistochemistry. Scoring methodologies derived from KI-67 immunostaining have shown promise as predictors of lethality in a range of cancers [1]. The most common scoring method is the labelling index, a ratio of KI-67 positive cells to the entire population [1]. Manual calculation of a labelling index can be a timeconsuming process for pathologists, who count cells in a bright field. Automated scoring algorithms and programs have been written to generate labelling indices, but they are nonspecific with respect to cell type and most often skew results by including stromal cells in the index. This problem is particularly relevant in breast cancer, where tumors are often located in a field of fibroadipose tissue. We have adapted algorithms for immunostain scoring and tested 2 stromal cell filtration algorithms which remove these cells based on their elongated nuclear morphology.

Semi-quantitative segmental perfusion scoring in myocardial perfusion SPECT: visual vs. automated analysis
Introduction: It is recommended that the physician apply at least a semi-quantitative segmental scoring system in myocardial perfusion SPECT. We aimed to assess the agreement between automated semi-quantitative analysis using QPS (quantitative Perfusion SPECT) software and visual approach for calculation of summed stress score (SSS), summed rest score (SRS) and summed difference score (SDS). ...

Recently, significant interest has been attracted by the potential use of aluminum nanostructures as plasmonic color filters to be great alternatives to the commercial color filters based on dye films or pigments. These color filters offer potential applications in LCDs, LEDs, color printing, CMOS image sensors, and multispectral imaging. However, engineering the optical characteristics of thes...
متن کاملAcoustic Feature-based Non-scorable Response Detection for an Automated Speaking Proficiency Assessment
This study provides a method that increases the robustness of automated speech scoring. Responses with sub-optimal characteristics such as background noises, volume problems, nonEnglish speech, whispered speech, and non-responses make automated scoring more difficult. For instance, loud background noises distort the spectral characteristics of speech, and the performance of the prosody and pron...
متن کاملSimilarity-Based Non-Scorable Response Detection for Automated Speech Scoring
This study provides a method that identifies problematic responses which make automated speech scoring difficult. When automated scoring is used in the context of a high stakes language proficiency assessment, for which the scores are used to make consequential decisions, some test takers may have an incentive to try to game the system in order to artificially inflate their scores. Since many a...
متن کاملQuantitative histology analysis of the ovarian tumour microenvironment
Concerted efforts in genomic studies examining RNA transcription and DNA methylation patterns have revealed profound insights in prognostic ovarian cancer subtypes. On the other hand, abundant histology slides have been generated to date, yet their uses remain very limited and largely qualitative. Our goal is to develop automated histology analysis as an alternative subtyping technology for ova...
