چکیده

Recently, the distributed real-time services are developing in distributed object computing environments in a way that can support a new programming paradigm of the distributed platform that requires interoperability among heterogeneous systems. These services are based on distributed middleware and object-oriented technologies. But we have the difficulties of managing of distributed objects and providing real-time objects with the timing constraints. For simultaneously solving these problems, we designed a new model, a real-time object group (RTOG) platform that can manage and group the distributed objects for reducing their own complicated managements and interfaces, and add distributed real-time requirements to real-time objects without modifying the ORB itself. The structure of the real-time object group we suggested contains several components reflecting the object grouping concepts and real-time service requirements analyzed by referring OMG CORBA specifications and realtime properties. To construct our RTOG platform, we designed the RTOG structure and the functional class diagram of components in a RTOG according to the analyzed requirements, and defined the timing constraints of real-time objects. And we explained the functional definitions and interactions among the components from the following points of view: distributed object management and real-time services. Finally, as results of the implemented our RTOG platform, we showed the real-time executing procedures via the Scheduler and the Real-Time Manager in RTOG platform charging with real-time services, and verified our findings by using the EDF algorithm to see whether real-time services can be applied to our platform.

Building Blocks for Achieving Quality of Service with Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) Middleware

To date, most of the fault-tolerant, real-time systems have been implemented in embedded settings, and there is an urgent need to open up this type of computing technology to a larger number of people who use heterogeneous distributed computing environments. Today’s transportation, manufacturing, and communication systems require the integration of multiple embedded real-time control systems wi...

Real-time Method Invocations in Distributed Environments

Current distributed computing environments, such as the Object Management Group's Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA), do not support real-time requirements. This paper presents the syntax, semantics and support for one necessary feature in a real-time distributed computing environment: timed distributed method invocations. It presents the general concept and illustrates its appli...

Parametric Time-Based Dispatching in CORBA Distributed Environments

This paper presents a complete system model for scheduling and dispatching CORBA service requests that have hard as well as soft real-time timing requirements in a distributed environment. The model provides the methodology for expressing and enforcing time-based QoS constraints for real-time CORBA service requests. Therefore, the presented model complements the state of the art in real-time sc...

Real-time CORBA

ÐThis paper presents a survey of results in developing Real-Time CORBA, a standard for real-time management of distributed objects. This paper includes background on two areas that have been combined to realize Real-Time CORBA: the CORBA standards that have been produced by the international Object Management Group; and techniques for distributed real-time computing that have been produced in t...

Responsive Services with CORBA

The Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) is a widely-accepted, standardized system integration framework based on distributed object technologies. CORBA facilitates general computing environments and does not explicitly address the needs of responsive (fault-tolerant, real-time) computing. Therefore, the question remains how to extend today’s CORBA implementations for support of re...
