Evolution of Cosmological Perturbations during Reheating

چکیده
The behavior of scalar perturbations on superhorizon scales during the reheating stage is investigated by replacing the rapidly oscillating inflaton field by a perfect fluid obtained by spacetime averaging and the WKB approximation. The influence of the energy transfer from the inflaton to radiation on the evolution of the Bardeen parameter is examined for realistic reheating processes. It is shown that the entropy perturbation generated by the energy transfer is negligibly small, and therefore the Bardeen parameter is conserved in a good accuracy during reheating. This justifies the conventional prescription relating the amplitudes of quantum fluctuations during inflation and those of adiabatic perturbations at horizon crossing in the post-Friedmann stage. email address: [email protected] email address: [email protected] §

Evolution of cosmological perturbations in a stage dominated by an oscillatory scalar field
In the investigation of the evolution of cosmological perturbations in inflationary universe models the behavior of perturbations during the reheating stage is the most unclear point. In particular in the early reheating phase in which a rapidly oscillating scalar field dominates the energy density, the behavior of perturbations are not known well because their evolution equation expressed in t...
متن کاملGauge invariant metric perturbations during reheating
The possible amplification of gauge invariant metric fluctuations in the infrared sector are very important during reheating stage of inflation. In this stage the inflaton field oscillates around the minimum of the scalar potential. The evolution for the super Hubble scales gauge invariant metric fluctuations can be studied by means of the Bardeen parameter. For a massive scalar field with pote...
متن کاملLong wavelength limit of evolution of cosmological perturbations in the universe where scalar fields and fluids coexist
We present the LWL formula which represents the long wavelengh limit of the solutions of evolution equations of cosmological perturbations in terms of the exactly homogeneous solutions in the most general case where multiple scalar fields and multiple perfect fluids coexist. We find the conserved quantity which has origin in the adiabatic decaying mode, and by regarding this quantity as the sou...
متن کاملCan Non-Adiabatic Perturbations Arise After Single-Field Inflation?
It is shown that non-adiabatic cosmological perturbations cannot appear during the period of reheating following inflation with a single scalar inflaton field. Electronic address: [email protected] According to a widely adopted picture [1], the perturbations to the Robertson– Walker cosmology arose from the quantum fluctuations in a slowly rolling scalar “inflaton” field during a peri...
متن کاملThe influence of cosmological transitions on the evolution of density perturbations
We study the influence of the reheating and equality transitions on superhorizon density perturbations and gravitational waves. Recent criticisms of the ‘standard result’ for large-scale perturbations in inflationary cosmology are rectified. The claim that the ‘conservation law’ for the amplitude of superhorizon modes was empty is shown to be wrong. For sharp transitions, i.e. the pressure jump...
