چکیده

Hardware-based test imposes some constraints like area overhead and processing speed degradation. In addition, with the advance in hardware integration, system-on-achip (SoC) test activities using only automatic test equipments (ATEs) results in an expensive option. The main objective of this work is to investigate and evaluate pros and cons of software-based test. Techniques, such as pattern compaction based on LFSR reseeding are used to minimize some of the drawbacks. Another objective of this work is to introduce a Computer Aided Test (CAT) tool used to generate a C code for testing core-based SoCs. The benchmark c6288 are used to evaluate the proposed tool and test techniques.

Validation in a Component-Based Design Flow for Multicore SoCs

Currently, since many SoCs include heterogeneous components such as CPUs, DSPs, ASICs, memories, buses, etc., system integration becomes a major step in system design. To enable this integration, we use a design approach called component based-design approach. In this design approach, the validation of system implementation is a bottleneck in the design cycle. Most of design efforts are devoted...

Interface based hardware/software validation of a system-on-chip

The availability of reusable IP-cores, increasing timeto-market and design productivity gap, and enabling deep sub-micron technologies have led to core-based system-onchip (SoC) design as a new paradigm in electronic system design. Validation of these complex hardware/software systems is the most time consuming task in the design flow. In this paper, we focus on developing an efficient interfac...

Industry Needs and Expectations of SoC Design Education

Universities are currently updating their VLSI design education offerings to cover the important needs of System-on-Chip (SoC) design. It is important to recognize that SoC is a qualitative shift in design practice: not just more of the same things, for larger and larger designs, but a need to emphasise new topics and a more systematic approach to the design process. SoC is as much or more ‘Sys...

Verification Flow and Test Pattern Generation for Ip Centric Soc Validation and Testing Using Multiplexer Based Tam

Recent advances in IC design methodologies and manufacturing technologies have led to the integration of a complete system onto a single IC, called system on chip (SoC). Such a core based SoCs pose major challenges in the manufacturing test and design validation and debug domain. IP centric validation and testing in a system-on-chip (SoC) which is also referred as modular testing methodology, i...

Tool Integration and Interoperability Challenges of a System-Level Design Flow: A Case Study

Daedalus is a system-level design flow for the design of multiprocessor system-on-chip (MP-SoC) based embedded multimedia systems. It offers a fully integrated tool-flow in which design exploration, system-level synthesis, application mapping, and system prototyping of MP-SoC architectures are highly automated. In this paper, we describe Daedalus from a software perspective, explaining its supp...
