On the Architectural Design of Frequency-Agile Multi-Standard Wireless Receivers

چکیده
A flexible, reconfigurable receiver architecture that extends the direct conversion architecture is presented. The receiver structure is based on high dynamic range/lowpower Σ∆ analog-to-digital converters (ADC) and digital signal processing functions implemented locally on the radio frequency integrated circuit (RFIC). This relaxes requirements for the analog part of the receiver and enables configurable receive-bandwidths, because channel filtering is realized in the digital domain. Since analog building blocks have limited reconfiguration capabilities by nature of their implementation, the extension of the conventional analog signal processing blocks by a digital front-end (DFE) greatly enhances the flexibility of the RFIC. Key building blocks for the proposed receiver, such as tunable RF filters, ADC and DFE building blocks are discussed.

Quadrature delta sigma modular design with adjustable bandwidth and center frequency
In this paper, a flexible Continuous time (CT) feedforward (FF) quadrature delta sigma modulator (QDSM) with variable bandwidth (BW) is proposed. The modulator BW and center frequency (fc) are variable which can be adjusted with two separate parameters. The modulator signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) will be optimized by these parameters at every center frequency and bandwidth. The modulator BW is ch...
متن کاملMethodologies and Tools for the Design and Optimization of Multi-Standard Radio Receivers
One of the main challenges posed by 4G wireless communication systems is achieving flexible, programmable multi-standard radio transceivers with maximum hardware share amongst different standards at a minimum power consumption. Evaluating the feasibility and performance of different multi-standard/multi-band radio solutions at an early stage, i.e. system level, is key for succeeding in surmount...
متن کاملPipeline Analog-to-Digital Converters for Wide-Band Wireless Communications
During the last decade, the development of the analog electronics has been dictated by the enormous growth of the wireless communications. Typical for the new communication standards has been an evolution towards higher data rates, which allows more services to be provided. Simultaneously, the boundary between analog and digital signal processing is moving closer to the antenna, thus aiming for...
متن کاملInterference-Aware and Cluster Based Multicast Routing in Multi-Radio Multi-Channel Wireless Mesh Networks
Multicast routing is one of the most important services in Multi Radio Multi Channel (MRMC) Wireless Mesh Networks (WMN). Multicast routing performance in WMNs could be improved by choosing the best routes and the routes that have minimum interference to reach multicast receivers. In this paper we want to address the multicast routing problem for a given channel assignment in WMNs. The channels...
متن کاملFM-UWB: Towards a Robust, Low-Power Radio for Body Area Networks
The Frequency Modulated Ultra-Wideband (FM-UWB) is known as a low-power, low-complexity modulation scheme targeting low to moderate data rates in applications such as wireless body area networks. In this paper, a thorough review of all FM-UWB receivers and transmitters reported in literature is presented. The emphasis is on trends in power reduction that exhibit an improvement by a factor 20 ov...
