چکیده

In Chapter 1 [17], we have given a worked example on how to develop a modular ontology using ontology design patterns. In the following, we will work through an example process how to use such an ontology for publishing Linked Data. Supplementary material, such as additional examples, OWL, and RDF files, are available at http://dase.cs.wright.edu/content/pattern-driven-linked-data-publishing-primer. Linked Data – or Linked Open Data if the reference is to Linked Data that is openly available in the sense of liberal re-use licenses [25] – refers to the publishing of data on the Web following a few very straightforward principles [7], foremost among them the use of the Resource Description Framework (RDF).1 Linked Data has seen very signficant uptake since its inception in 2006.2 In 2014, over

The GeoLink Framework for Pattern-based Linked Data Integration

GeoLink is one of the building block projects within EarthCube, a major effort of the National Science Foundation to establish a next-generation knowledge infrastructure for geosciences. Specifically, GeoLink aims to improve data reuse and integration of seven geoscience data repositories through the use of ontologies. In this paper, we present the approach taken by this project, which combines...

Knowledge Discovery from Linked Data

Linked Data has been increasing rapidly by publishing machine readable structured data. DBpedia and YAGO are cross-domain data sets, which provide semantic knowledge of things. Although both data sets contain millions of entities, there are still missing knowledge exist in each data set. In this paper, we analyze graph patterns of Linked Data entities to discover missing knowledge in the data s...

Pattern-Based Linked Data Publication: The Linked Chess Dataset Case

This paper discusses the relationship between ontology design patterns (ODPs), data models and linked data, proposing a method that simplifies the task of publishing linked data while adhering to good modeling practices that reuse well-studied ODPs. The method consists of providing the pattern along with a simplified view of it, the conversion queries to transform one into the other and the con...

Ontology of Ontology Patterns as Linked Data Integration Tool

The paper present preview of ontology of ontology design patterns and transformation patterns being developed as support tool for emerging ontology design techniques and methodologies. The Linked Data initiative was started by Tim Berners-Lee as an architectural vision for the Semantic Web. It explores the idea of Semantic Web as puting emphasis on making links so both people and machines can e...

The Publishing Workflow Ontology (PWO)

In this paper we introduce the Publishing Workflow Ontology (PWO), i.e., an OWL 2 DL ontology for the description of workflows that is particularly suitable for formalising typical publishing processes such as the publication of articles in journals. We support the presentation with a discussion of all the ontology design patterns that have been reused for modelling the main characteristics of ...
