On the " Circular Vacuum Noise " in Electron Storage Rings

چکیده

We discuss the proposal of Bell and Leinaas (BL) to measure the circular Unruh effect in storage rings. The ideal concept ‘circular Unruh effect’ has a more realistic correspondent such as ‘circular vacuum noise’ used by Shin Takagi [Prog. Theor. Phys. Suppl. 88, 1 (1986)] The BL resonance behavior does not fit to the SPEAR first order betatron resonance at 3.605 GeV, but of course, the real experimental situation is much more complicated, corresponding, as a matter of fact, to an even more general term that one may call ‘synchrotron noise’. In the final section we focus on radiometric aspects of storage ring physics, such as the problem of establishing better quantum field radiometric standards at high energies. The Unruh-like effect could be a useful guide for that purpose. PACS numbers: 29.20.Dh, 04.20Cv, 07.60.Dg

Noninertial Zero-point Fluctuations: a Laboratory-oriented Introduction

Old results of Letaw on scalar vacuum radiation patterns that could be of interest for phonon analogies are used to emphasize the radio-metric nature of the Frenet-Serret invariants of the stationary worldlines, rather than sticking to the thermal interpretation of the vacuum excitations as apparent for the uniformly accelerated quantum detector (Unruh's interpretation). I focus next on the ele...

Unruh Effect in Storage Rings

A uniformly accelerated system will get thermally excited due to interactions with the vacuum fluctuations of the quantum fields. This is the Unruh effect. Also a system accelerated in a circular orbit will be heated, but in this case complications arise relative to the linear case. An interesting question is in what sense the real quantum effects for orbital and spin motion of a circulating el...

Properties of the electron cloud in a high-energy positron and electron storage ring

034402-1 Low-energy, background electrons are ubiquitous in high-energy particle accelerators. Under certain conditions, interactions between this electron cloud and the high-energy beam can give rise to numerous effects that can seriously degrade the accelerator performance. These effects range from vacuum degradation to collective beam instabilities and emittance blowup. Although electron-clo...

In this study, the effect of edible coat (carboxy methyl cellulose) before osmotic dehydration anddifferent drying methods on sensory and physical properties of dried apple (V. Golden delicious)rings was investigated. The coated and non-coated samples pretreated with 50% sucrose osmoticsolution and dried in freeze drier (-40 to -50°C, 0.026-0.017 mbar, 24 hr), vacuum drier (70°C, 200mbar, 8-10 ...

Inhibition of fatty acids profile changes of Cobia (Rachycentron canadum) fillets during frozen storage by packaging under vacuum system

This study was aimed to investigate the effect of vacuum packing (VP) on the fatty acids profiles in cobia (Rachycentron canadum) fillets during an extended frozen storage period. Cobia fillets were treated under vacuum system then stored at -18°C for up to 6 months and compared to control conditions. As a result of a frozen storage period of 6 months, a marked content decrease was found in the...
