چکیده

Scaling features of particles produced in π − − p and π − − A collisions over a high-p T range at high energies are studied. The general concept of z-scaling is applied for the analysis of π − − p and π − − A experimental data on the Ed 3 σ/dq 3 inclusive cross section. The scaling function ψ(z) and scaling variable z are constructed and the anomalous dimension δ π is found. The A-dependence of particle production in pion-nucleus collisions is studied. The predictions of the inclusive cross section of the π 0-mesons produced in π − − A collisions in the central rapidity range at high energies have been made.

Preliminary results of the analyzing power for the production of forward, high-energy π 0 mesons from collisions of transversely polarized protons at √ s = 200 GeV from STAR are presented. The kinematic ranges covered by the data are x F ≈ 0.2 − 0.6 and p T ≈ 1 − 3 GeV/c. The analyzing power at √ s = 200 GeV is found to be comparable to that observed at √ s = 20 GeV.

Jet quenching as observed via high pT hadron production is studied in the HIJING1.35 model. We test the model on recent WA98 data on 160 AGeV Pb+ Pb → π up to 4 GeV/c.
