چکیده

Approximate string matching is a sequential problem and therefore it is possible to solve it using nite automata. Nondeterministic nite automata are constructed for string matching with k mismatches and k di erences. The corresponding deterministic nite automata are base for approximate string matching in linear time. Then the space complexity of both types of deterministic automata is calculated. Moreover, reduced versions of nondeterministic automata are taken into account and the space complexity of their deterministic equivalents is calculated.

Approximate String Matching with Gaps

In this paper we consider several new versions of approximate string matching with gaps. The main characteristic of these new versions is the existence of gaps in the matching of a given pattern in a text. Algorithms are sketched for each version and their time and space complexity is stated. The specific versions of approximate string matching have various applications in computerized music an...

Fast and Practical Approximate String Matching

We present new algorithms for approximate string matching based in simple, but eecient, ideas. First, we present an algorithm for string matching with mismatches based in arithmetical operations that runs in linear worst case time for most practical cases. This is a new approach to string searching. Second, we present an algorithm for string matching with errors based on partitioning the patter...

Approximate String Matching ? Edgar

We present a radically new indexing approach for approximate string matching. The scheme uses the metric properties of the edit distance and can be applied to any other metric between strings. We build a metric space where the sites are the nodes of the suux tree of the text, and the approximate query is seen as a proximity query on that metric space. This permits us nding the R occurrences of ...

Average-Optimal Multiple Approximate String Matching

We present a new algorithm for multiple approximate string matching, based on an extension of the optimal (on average) singlepattern approximate string matching algorithm of Chang and Marr. Our algorithm inherits the optimality and is also competitive in practice. We present a second algorithm that is linear time and handles higher difference ratios. We show experimentally that our algorithms a...
