چکیده

H single point magnetic resonance imaging (SPI)[1],[2],[3] has been introduced in the literature as a method for determining relaxation characteristics of semi-crystalline polymers and for extracting MRI images from such samples. The work presented in the literature to date demonstrates the applicability of this technique. In this work, SPI has been applied to the direct observation of stress-induced changes, temperature induced changes and structural changes in the apparent spin-spin relaxation time, T2*, in polyethylene samples. Several samples prepared under quite different conditions were studied.

PVT Properties of Polymers for Injection Molding

PVT (Pressure-Volume-Temperature) properties of polymers are important for both engineering and polymer physics. Fig.1 shows the typical PVT diagrams of an amorphous (a) and semi-crystalline polymer (b). PVT diagram describes the specific volume as a function of pressure and temperature. Specific volume increases with the temperature increasing. There is a thermal transition in the polymer. The...

Crystalline polymers with exceptionally low thermal conductivity studied using molecular dynamics

Semi-crystalline polymers have been shown to have greatly increased thermal conductivity compared to amorphous bulk polymers due to effective heat conduction along the covalent bonds of the backbone. However, the mechanisms governing the intrinsic thermal conductivity of polymers remain largely unexplored as thermal transport has been studied in relatively few polymers. Here, we use molecular d...

In-Situ X-Ray Characterization of Fiber Structure During Melt Spinning

The properties of a polymer are strongly influenced by its morphology. In the case of fibers from semicrystalline polymers this consists of the degree of crystallinity, the spacing and alignment of the crystalline regions, and molecular orientation of the polymer chains in the amorphous regions. Information on crystallinity and orientation can be obtained from X-ray analysis. In-situ X-ray char...

Synthesis and Characterization of Polyamide-66/Calcium Carbonate Composites

Polyamide-66(PA66)/CaCO3 micro- and nano-composites were prepared using a polymer solution method at filler loading of 0, 1, 2 and 3 weight percent. Nano-size of CaCO3 was synthesized by micro-emulsion technique. The material was characterized by XRD, SEM, FTIR and UV-VIS techniques. XRD results of composites suggested that CaCO3 particles are found in the amorphous phase of the semi-crystallin...

Study of the thermal behavior of syndiotactic and atactic polystyrene by Raman spectroscopy

The glass properties and semi crystalline properties of polymers are observable by X-ray diffraction. Some previous works 1, 2, 3 were about determination of degree of crystallinity of sPS by various technologies, like for example DSC, XRD and Raman spectroscopy. The purpose of this paper is to show importance of Raman spectroscopy as analytical tool for the study of amorphous and semi-crystall...
