The Proximal Tubule Cell in Experimental Hydronephrosis
نویسنده
چکیده
The purpose of this report is to record several observations made in a study of hydronephrosis produced in rats by unilateral ligation of the ureter. I t has been known from the work of Wilmer (1) and Wachstein (2, 3) that the staining of the proximal tubule brush border for alkaline phosphatase activity is diminished in experimental hydronephrosis. However, the speed with which this decrease occurs has not been appreciated, possibly because earlier studies have utilized

The Effect of Nifedipine and Verapamil on Kidney Histology Rat
Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of verapamil and nifidipine on diabetic kidney in rats. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, 6 groups of rats were studied, group I; intact (sham) group II; diabetic (control), group III and IV; diabetic treated with verapamil or nifedepine group V and VI normal rat which recieved verapamil or nifedipine. Diabetic rats (co...
متن کاملMitochondrial and cytoskeletal alterations are involved in the pathogenesis of hydronephrosis in ICR/Mlac-hydro mice.
The pathogenesis of congenital hydronephrosis in laboratory animals has been studied for many years, yet little is known about the underlying mechanism of this disease. In this study, we investigated a MS-based comparative proteomics approach to characterize the differently expressed proteins between kidney tissue samples of ICR/Mlac-hydro and wild-type mice. Interestingly, proteomic results ex...
متن کاملCell proliferation and renal carcinogenesis.
Enhanced cell proliferation occurs at several stages of renal tumorigenesis. Initiation by genotoxic nephrocarcinogens such as dimethylnitrosamine (DMN) is likely a result of DNA damage coupled with an initial burst of DNA synthesis associated with the cytotoxic effects of the compound. The level of initiation by DMN can be further enhanced by unilateral nephrectomy or hydronephrosis, which ind...
متن کاملThe proximal tubule phenotype and its disruption in acute renal failure and polycystic kidney disease.
In light of recent developments in the fields of genetics, molecular, cell and developmental biology, the kidney is receiving increasing attention as a model system for organ development and human diseases. Gene disruption experiments have provided evidence for the essential role of a number of proteins in the earliest phase of nephron development, but very little is known about the identity of...
متن کاملPatterns of nephron perfusion in acute and chronic hydronephrosis.
Partial urinary tract obstruction is known to produce, in addition to a nonspecific depression in renal function, certain characteristic derangements, especially profound polyuria (1-5); release of the obstruction may result in a transient salt-wasting state (6, 7). Three hypotheses may be advanced to explain the altered function of the hydronephrotic kidney. It is possible that with the elevat...
