چکیده

Transporting Big Data requires high-speed connections between end-hosts. Research and educational networks typically are stateof-the-art networks that facilitate such high-speed user-created network connections, possibly spanning multiple domains. However, there are many different high-speed optical data plane standards and implementations, and vendors do not always create compatible data plane implementations. These technology incompatibilities may prevent direct communication between domains and therefore complicate the configuration of connections. However, some domains may have adaptation capabilities that can lift the technology incompatibility constraint in establishing paths between incompatible domains. Within this context, we address two problems, namely: (1) how to model the technology incompatibilities of multi-domain multi-layer networks, and (2) how to optimally establish paths in such networks. We introduce the inclusion of the information of the supported technologies and adaptation capabilities of each domain and inter-domain link in our model. We subsequently propose technology-aware routing algorithms for finding the shortest feasible path in a multi-domain multi-layer network.

Interference-Aware and Cluster Based Multicast Routing in Multi-Radio Multi-Channel Wireless Mesh Networks

Multicast routing is one of the most important services in Multi Radio Multi Channel (MRMC) Wireless Mesh Networks (WMN). Multicast routing performance in WMNs could be improved by choosing the best routes and the routes that have minimum interference to reach multicast receivers. In this paper we want to address the multicast routing problem for a given channel assignment in WMNs. The channels...

Technology-Aware Multi-Domain Routing in Optical Networks

Worldwide collaborations involving huge data transfer over optical networks are forming at increasing pace. Such worldwide connections may traverse through multiple domains that are managed by different network administrators. Due to the absence of optical network equipment standardization between network administrators, technology incompatibilities may prevent direct communication between doma...

A Time Dependent Pollution Routing Problem in Multi-graph

This paper considers a time dependent(the travel time is not constant throughout the day) pollution routing problem (TDPRP), which aids the decision makers in minimizing travel time, toll cost and emitted pollution cost.  In complexity of urban areas most of the time one point is accessible from another with more than one edge. In contrast to previous TDPRP models, which are designed with only ...

Reliability and Performance Evaluation of Fault-aware Routing Methods for Network-on-Chip Architectures (RESEARCH NOTE)

Nowadays, faults and failures are increasing especially in complex systems such as Network-on-Chip (NoC) based Systems-on-a-Chip due to the increasing susceptibility and decreasing feature sizes. On the other hand, fault-tolerant routing algorithms have an evident effect on tolerating permanent faults and improving the reliability of a Network-on-Chip based system. This paper presents reliabili...

Inter-domain dynamic routing in multi-layer optical transport networks

Next-generation optical transport networks will automatically and dynamically provision end-to-end connections. In this paper, we study the problem of inter-domain dynamic routing under a multi-layer multi-domain network model, which allows the end-to-end connections to be set up not only across multiple routing domains but also through two transport layers: the optical layer and the digital la...
