Quantitative Determination of drugs & pharnaceuticalsby using iodine as analytical reagent: A spectrophotometric study

چکیده
Sensitive, accurate and precise methods for the qauantitative determination of Seven drugs viz., Cyclobenzaprine HCl (CYC), Cyproheptadine HCl (CYP), Dobutamine HCl (DOB), Moxifloxacin HCl (MOX), Pamiprioxole HCl (PAM), Sumatriptan succinate (SUM) and Trimetazadine 2HCl(TRI) haave been developed . The methods are based on the charge transfer interqction of iodine with drugs which resulted in the formation of I3 ion with absorbtion maximum at 366nm. The absorbance of the band increased with increasing concentration of the drug and formed basis for the quantitative determination of the drugs. The methods have been validated in terms of ICH guidelines and parameters affecting the absorbance are optimised. The stoichiometry of each of the CT complex is found to be 1:1 by Job’s continuous varuiation methodts and the formation constants are determined by drawing tangents to the Job’s plots

Spectrophotometric Determination of Drugs Using Iodine As Analytical Reagent
Six drugs viz., Astemizole, Cisapride, Domperidone, Pantoprazole, Rabeprazole and Trazadone were tested for the formation of charge transfer complexes with Iodine. Each of these drugs turned the violet coloured i.e iodine , in CH2Cl2, to brown and exhibited a new band at 366nm in addition to the original band of iodine at 510nm due to anion of the reagent whose intensity increased with increase...
متن کاملTitrimetric and Spectrophotometric Methods for the Determination of β-blockers in Pharmaceutical Dosage Form
Three new methods using titrimetric and spectrophotometry are described for the determination of Propranolol Hydrochloride (PPH) and Atenolol (AN) with potassium bromate as the oxidimetric reagent and acid dyes, Methyl orange and Indigo carmine. In direct titrimetric (method A), the drug is titrated directly with bromate in acid medium and in the presence of excess of bromide using methyl orang...
متن کاملSpectrophotometric determination of arsenic in environmental and biological samples
A simple and sensitive spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of arsenic using variamine blue as a chromogenic reagent. The method is based on the reaction of arsenic(III) with potassium iodate in acid medium to liberate iodine, which oxidizes variamine blue to form a violet coloured species having an absorption maximum at 556 nm. Beer’s law is obeyed in the range 0....
متن کاملSpectrophotometric Determination of Drugs Using 2,3-Dichloro 5,6-dicyano p- benzoquinone as Analytical Reagent
Six drugs viz., Astemizole, Domperidone, Esomeprazole, Losartan potassium, Sumatriptan and Terazosin were tested for the formation of charge transfer complexes with 2, 3-dichloro 5, 6-dicyanopbenzoquinone, (DDQ). Each of these drugs turned the pale yellow colour of reagent i.e DDQ. in CH3CN, to purple and exhibited three bands at 455, 545 and 588 nm due to anion of the reagent whose intensity i...
متن کاملSolvent Extraction Spectrophotometric Determination of Vanadium Using Sodium Salt of 2-Mercapto-Pyridine-N-Oxide as a Reagent
A solvent-extraction spectrophotometric technique is proposed as a new method for determination of trace quantities of vanadium. Sodium salt of 2-mercapto-pyridine-N-oxide (thione) forms a complex with vanadium instantaneously. The purple 1:2 complex is formed of pH 2.3, easily extracted in chloroform and shows strong absorbance at 500 nm. The extracted complex is found to obey Beer's law i...
