چکیده

This is a short introduction to an implementation of interval arithmetic data structures and operations for the Maxima computer algebra system. We expect that further algorithms necessary to implement the forthcoming IEEE 1788 standard for interval arithmetic can be readily fit into this structure.

Arithmetic Aggregation Operators for Interval-valued Intuitionistic Linguistic Variables and Application to Multi-attribute Group Decision Making

The intuitionistic linguistic set (ILS) is an extension of linguisitc variable. To overcome the drawback of using single real number to represent membership degree and non-membership degree for ILS, the concept of interval-valued intuitionistic linguistic set (IVILS) is introduced through representing the membership degree and non-membership degree with intervals for ILS in this paper. The oper...

A Neural Net Approach to Improving Interval Arithmetic

—Interval arithmetic has become a popular tool for general optimization problems such as robust root finding and global maximum/minimum finding. This has been effectively applied in many computer fields, such as computer graphics. However, interval arithmetic suffers from two significant weaknesses. First, its evaluations are often very conservative, making it useless in many practical situatio...

Global Optimization for Imprecise Problems

A new method for the computation of the global minimum of a continuously differentiable real–valued function f of n variables is presented. This method, which is composed of two parts, is based on the combinatorial topology concept of the degree of a mapping associated with an oriented polyhedron. In the first part, interval arithmetic is implemented for a “rough” isolation of all the stationar...
