Structure and phase behavior of square-well dimer fluids

چکیده
A Born–Green–Yvon integral equation approach is used to study the structure and phase behavior of a fluid of fused square-well-sphere dimers. We compute site–site distribution functions for dimers with bond lengths of L50.6s , 0.8s, and 1.0s ~where s is the hard-sphere diameter! and square-well diameters ranging from l51.25s to 2.0s over a wide range of temperature and density, and make comparisons with both exact and simulation results. For the tangent square-well dimer fluid having l51.5 we obtain a binodal and spinodal via the energy route, and compare our results with Monte Carlo data. The computational intensity of this approach has lead us to search for an alternate route to information about phase behavior, and so we also show how our compressibility results may be used in order to construct approximate spinodal curves. © 2001 American Institute of Physics. @DOI: 10.1063/1.1338981#

Square-well chain molecules: a semi-empirical equation of state and Monte Carlo simulation data
A semi-empirical equation of state was developed for square-well chain fluids on the basis of Monte Carlo (MC) simulation data. The equation was formed by combining terms describing non-bonded square-well segments, hard-sphere chain formation, and a perturbation term describing the square-well contribution to chain formation. The functional dependence on the chain length is the same as that der...
متن کاملPhase behavior of dipolar fluids from a modified statistical associating fluid theory for potentials of variable range.
A statistical associating fluid theory for potentials of variable range to model dipolar fluids is presented. The new theory, termed the SAFT-VR+D equation (the statistical associating fluid theory for potentials of variable range plus dipole), explicitly accounts for dipolar interactions and their effect on the structure of the fluid. This is achieved through the use of the generalized mean sp...
متن کاملPhase behavior of dipolar associating fluids from the SAFT-VR+D equation of state.
The statistical associating fluid theory for potentials of variable range plus dipole (SAFT-VR+D) is extended to study associating dipolar fluids. In the SAFT-VR+D approach dipolar interactions are taken into account through the use of the generalized mean spherical approximation to describe a reference fluid of dipolar square-well segments. This enables the effect of the dipolar interactions o...
متن کاملDynamic scaling behavior of an interacting monomer-dimer model.
We study the dynamic scaling behavior of a monomer-dimer model with repulsive interactions between the same species in one dimension. With infinitely strong interactions the model exhibits a continuous transition from a reactive phase to an inactive phase with two equivalent absorbing states. This transition does not belong to the conventional directed percolation universal-ity class. The value...
متن کاملStructure and phase behavior of colloidal dumbbells with tunable attractive interactions.
We investigate thermodynamic and structural properties of colloidal dumbbells in the framework provided by the Reference Interaction Site Model (RISM) theory of molecular fluids and Monte Carlo simulations. We consider two different models: in the first one we set identical square-well attractions on the two tangent spheres constituting the molecule (SW-SW model); in the second scheme, one of t...
