On Higher Derivative Gravity In Two Dimensions
نویسنده
چکیده
The 2D gravity described by the action which is an arbitrary function of the scalar curvature f(R) is considered. The classical vacuum solutions are analyzed. The one-loop renormalizability is studied. For the function f = R lnR the model coupled with scalar (conformal) matter is exactly integrated and is shown to describe a black hole of the 2D dilaton gravity type. The influence of one-loop quantum corrections on a classical black hole configuration is studied by including the Liouville-Polyakov term. The resulting model turns out to be exactly solvable. The general solution is analyzed and shown to be free from the space-time singularities for a certain number of scalar fields. PACS number(s): 04.60.+n, 12.25.+e ∗ e-mail: [email protected]

In this paper we consider the action of higher derivative gravity up to the second order terms in the scalars made from the Ricci scalar, Ricci and Riemann tensors. We use the Bach- Lanczos identity of the Weyl tensor in four dimensions and show that the solutions of 4-dimensional Einstein equations with cosmological constant term in vacuum, which are known as Einstein metrics, satisfy the fie...
متن کاملLocation and dimensionality estimation of geological bodies using eigenvectors of "Computed Gravity Gradient Tensor"
One of the methodologies employed in gravimetry exploration is eigenvector analysis of Gravity Gradient Tensor (GGT) which yields a solution including an estimation of a causative body’s Center of Mass (COM), dimensionality and strike direction. The eigenvectors of GGT give very rewarding clues about COM and strike direction. Additionally, the relationships between its components provide a quan...
متن کاملGravity waves in three dimensions
We find the explicit forms of the anti–de Sitter plane, anti–de Sitter spherical, and pp waves that solve both the linearized and exact field equations of the most general higher derivative gravity theory in three dimensions. As a subclass, we work out the six-derivative theory and the critical version of it where the masses of the two spin-2 excitations vanish and the spin-0 excitations decouple.
متن کاملDilatonic gravity near two dimensions and asymptotic freedom of the gravitational coupling constant
Two models of dilatonic gravity are investigated: (i) dilaton-Yang-Mills gravity and (ii) higher-derivative dilatonic gravity. Both are renormalizable in 2 + ǫ dimensions and have a smooth limit for ǫ → 0. The corresponding one-loop effective actions and beta-functions are found. Both theories are shown to possess a non-trivial ultraviolet fixed point —for all dilatonic couplings— in which the ...
متن کاملRenormalizability of Massive Gravity in Three Dimensions
We discuss renormalizability of a recently established, massive gravity theory with particular higher derivative terms in three space-time dimensions. It is shown that this massive gravity is certainly renormalizable as well as unitary, so it gives us a physically interesting toy model of perturbative quantum gravity in three dimensions. متن کاملOn higher-derivative dilatonic gravity in two dimensions
We discuss lowering the order of the two-dimensional scalar-tensor R2 quantum gravity, by mapping the most general version of the model to a multi-dilaton gravity, which is essentially the sigma-model coupled with the Jackiw-Teitelboim-like gravity. In the continuation of our previous research, we calculate the divergent part of the one-loop effective action in a 2D scalar-tensor (dilatonic) gr...
