The energy spectrum of all - particle cosmic rays around the knee region observed with the Tibet - III air - shower array

چکیده
We have already reported the first result on the all-particle spectrum around the knee region based on data from 2000 November to 2001 October observed by the Tibet-III air-shower array. In this paper, we present an updated result using data set collected in the period from 2000 November through 2004 October in a wide range over 3 decades between 1014 eV and 1017 eV, in which the position of the knee is clearly seen at around 4 PeV. The spectral index is -2.68 ± 0.02(stat.) below 1PeV, while it is -3.12 ± 0.01(stat.) above 4 PeV in the case of QGSJET+HD model, and various systematic errors are under study now.

Carlo study to measure the energy spectra of the primary cosmic - ray components at the knee using a new Tibet AS core detector array
A new hybrid experiment has been started by ASγ experiment at Tibet, China, since August 2011, which consists of a low threshold burst-detector-grid (YAC-II, Yangbajing Air shower Core array), the Tibet air-shower array (Tibet-III) and a large underground water Cherenkov muon detector (MD). In this paper, the capability of the measurement of the chemical components (proton, helium and iron) wit...
متن کاملCOSMIC RAYS FROM THE KNEE TO THE SECOND KNEE: 10 TO 10 eV∗
The energies of cosmic rays, fully ionized charged nuclei, extend over a wide range up to 10 eV. A particularly interesting energy region spans from 10 to 10 eV, where the all-particle energy spectrum exhibits two interesting structures, the “knee” and the “second knee”. An explanation of these features is thought to be an important step in understanding the origin of the high-energy particles....
متن کاملChanges of the cosmic-ray mass composition in the 1014–1016 eV energy range
Data taken with ten Cosmic Ray Tracking (CRT) detectors and the HEGRA air-shower array on La Palma, Canary Islands, have been analysed to investigate changes of the cosmic-ray mass composition at the ‘knee’ of the cosmic-ray flux spectrum near 1015 eV energy. The analysis is based on the angular distributions of particles in air showers. HEGRA data provided the shower size, direction, and core ...
متن کاملA study on the lateral distribution of Cherenkov light in extensive air showers
The dependence of the lateral distribution of Cherenkov light in simulated extensive air showers to the energy and the mass of the primary cosmic rays has been studied. It has been shown that a previous claim about mass independent proportionality of shower energy to the total Cherenkov photon number is not valid in energies below EEAS ~ 1014 eV. We have found that the core distance of the so c...

Alborz observatory is an EAS array in the heights of Alborez mountain chain near Tehran. For the development of the array, more number of detectors is inevitable. The managing the financial resources and achieving the highest efficiency of the array is important for the project. Therefore, Water Cherenkov Detectors has been used for 9 months in the same way as the previous experiment with Scint...
