A Simple Connection between Covariant Feynman Formalism and Time-ordered Perturbation Theory in the Infinite Momentum Frame*

چکیده
We introduce a parametrization of loop momenta which allows us to perform one of the Feynman integrations in a very transparent way. This leads to expressions which can easily be related to terms resulting from time-ordered perturbation theory in the infinite momentum frame. To exemplify our method we consider some simple Feynman integrals. As another example we discuss the covariant expressions of Landshoff, Polkinghorne, and Short for the scaling graph and the electromagnetic form factor. We indicate how to substitute the Sudakov parametrization in their work in order to simplify their discussion and to make comparisons with the work of Gunion, Brodsky, and Blankenbecler more convenient. Finally we derive an elegant form of the bound state Bethe-Salpeter equation in which one of the Feynman integrations is performed. (Submitted for publication. ) *Work supported by the U. S. Solving multi-loop Feynman diagrams using light-front coordinates
Multi-loop Feynman diagrams pose a serious challenge, especially in the massive case where multiple scales arise. Apart from the successes of high-order expansions in α in QED, which provide a stringent test of quantum field theory, Feynman diagrams are also the way in which we understand the most of field theory, since it allows us to quantify it. They form the basis for our understanding of m...
متن کاملNucleon Structure Functions from Relativistic Constituent Quarks ∗
We investigate deep inelastic lepton scattering from the nucleon within a constituent quark picture, in which the internal structure of constituent quarks is modeled by meson and diquark dressing. In a co-variant framework this structure leads to a breakdown of the factoriza-tion necessary for a convolution formulation. We perform our analysis in time-ordered perturbation theory in the infinite...
متن کاملRole of vector mesons in high-Q2 lepton-nucleon scattering.
The possible role played by vector mesons in inclusive deep inelastic lepton-nucleon scattering is investigated. In the context of the convolution model, we calculate self-consistently the scaling contribution to the nucleon structure function using the formalism of time-ordered perturbation theory in the infinite momentum frame. Our results indicate potentially significant effects only when th...
متن کاملPoint-Form Quantum Field Theory and Meson Form Factors
Recently we have reconsidered the quantization of relativistic field theories on a Lorentz-invariant surface of the form xμx μ = τ [1]. With this choice of the quantization surface all components of the 4-momentum operator become interaction dependent, whereas the generators of Lorentz transformations stay free of interactions – a feature characteristic for Dirac’s “point form” of relativistic ...
متن کاملQUANTUM ELECTRODYNAMICS AT INFINITE MOMENTUM: SCATTERING FROM AN EXTERNAL FIELDt
Using a formulation of quantum electrodynamics in the infinite momentum frame, we develop a theory to describe the scattering of energetic electrons or >” photons off an external field. A physical picture emerges which proves to be a realization of Feymnan’s lfparton” ideas. In this picture the incoming electron is composed of bare constituents (the quanta of the Schroedinger fields) which, at ...
