A New Method of Testing Log-normal Mean

چکیده
In this paper, we deal with hypothesis testing for unknown parameters. A new method is proposed based on a combination of the computational approach test and maximum likelihood estimation (CAT-MLE), introduced by [7]. The CAT-MLE does not require any knowledge of the sampling distribution. It depends heavily on numerical computational and Monte-Carlo simulation study. To illustrate the methodology, we show that the CAT-MLE can be better than the two accepted tests, modified Cox method and generalized p-value method, with Monte Carlo simulations to test the mean in the lognormal distribution. We also apply our method to a set of real data.

Comparing Mean Vectors Via Generalized Inference in Multivariate Log-Normal Distributions
Abstract In this paper, we consider the problem of means in several multivariate log-normal distributions and propose a useful method called as generalized variable method. Simulation studies show that suggested method has a appropriate size and power regardless sample size. To evaluation this method, we compare this method with traditional MANOVA such that the actual sizes of the two methods ...
متن کاملRobust tests for testing the parameters of a normal population
This article aims to provide a simple robust method to test the parameters of a normal population by using the new diagnostic tool called the “Forward Search” (FS) method. The most commonly used procedures to test the mean and variance of a normal distribution are Student’s t test and Chi-square test, respectively. These tests suffer from the presence of outliers. We introduce the FS version of...
متن کاملTESTING STATISTICAL HYPOTHESES UNDER FUZZY DATA AND BASED ON A NEW SIGNED DISTANCE
This paper deals with the problem of testing statisticalhypotheses when the available data are fuzzy. In this approach, wefirst obtain a fuzzy test statistic based on fuzzy data, and then, based on a new signed distance between fuzzy numbers, we introducea new decision rule to accept/reject the hypothesis of interest. The proposed approach is investigated for two cases: the casewithout nuisance p...
متن کاملA Comparison of Hypothesis Testing Methods for the Mean of a Log-Normal Distribution
This paper deals with testing the mean of a log-normal population. We apply a newly developed Computational Approach Test (CAT), which is essentially a parametric bootstrap method. An advantage of the CAT is that it does not require the explicit knowledge of the sampling distribution of the test statistic. The CAT is then compared with three accepted testsCox method, modified Cox method and gen...
متن کاملEvaluation of Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET) Parameters in Normal Adult Population
Background: Cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) is a widely applied clinical procedure. The aim of the present study was to acquire a comprehensive set of reference values for cardiopulmonary responses to exercise and to evaluate the possible associations with sex, age and body mass index (BMI). Methods: From files of 3,992 CEPT performed in the hospital during six years, 102 files of heal...
