Projectile Motion in Real Life
نویسنده
چکیده
Projectile motion is a fundamental concept in basic physics courses. The often used simplified calculations, where air resistance is neglected, are obviously not relevant for many real life events. Using a video camera and computer software, students can investigate the influence of air resistance on for instance the trajectory of a football. The video sequences are digitised and the xand y-positions of the ball in every frame are registered together with the actual time. Comparisons are made with theoretical calculations performed using both an ordinary spreadsheet program and software specially designed for dynamic simulations.

Parametric programming : An illustrative mini encyclopedia ∗
Parametric programming is one of the broadest areas of applied mathematics. Practical problems, that can be described by parametric programming, were recorded in the rock art about thirty millennia ago. As a scientific discipline, parametric programming began emerging only in the 1950’s. In this tutorial we introduce, briefly study, and illustrate some of the elementary notions of parametric pr...
متن کاملSimulating Projectile Motion in the Air with Spreadsheets
The paper gives two examples of simulating motion with spreadsheets, which are projectile motion in vacuum, and projectile motion in the air with quadratic drag.
متن کاملMicrosoft Excel Software Usage for Teaching Science and Engineering Curriculum
In this paper, our main objective is to present the use of Microsoft Software Excel 2007/2003 for teaching college and university level curriculum in science and engineering. In particular, we discuss two interesting and fascinating examples of interactive applications of Microsoft Excel targeted for undergraduate students in (1) computational physics and physics education, and in (2) computer ...
متن کاملPerformance of a Two-stages Gas Gun: Experimental, Analytical and Numerical Analysis
Two stages gas guns are used for various purposes, particularly for mechanical characterization of materials at high rate of deformations. The performance of a two stages gas gun is studied in this work using the theory of the two-stage gas gun proposed by Rajesh, numerical simulation using combined Eulerian/ Lagrangian elements in Autodyna commercial code and experiment using a two stage gas g...
