چکیده

This paper focuses on the task of automatic feature detection for computer-assisted fixation of hip fractures. The features of interest are the lateral cortex line, the femoral neck centre and the femoral head centre, the latter being the most challenging of all. A nonconventional “divide-and-conquer” knowledgebased approach produces more reliable and faster results than the standard global image processing routine.

A computer-assisted systematic quality monitoring method for cervical hip fracture radiography

BACKGROUND A thorough quality analysis of radiologic performance is cumbersome. Instead, the prevalence of missed cervical hip fractures might be used as a quality indicator. PURPOSE To validate a computer-based quality study of cervical hip fracture radiography. MATERIAL AND METHODS True and false negative and positive hip trauma radiography during 6 years was assessed manually. Patients w...

Lower Bone Mineral Density is Associated with Intertrochanteric Hip Fracture

Background: A better understanding of how bone mineral density and vitamin D levels are associated with femoralneck and intertrochanteric hip fractures may help inform healthcare providers. We asked: 1) In patients age ≥ 55 years,is there a difference in quantitative ultrasound of the heel (QUS) t-score between patients with fractures of the femoralneck and those with fractures of the intertroc...

P-106: The Computer-Assisted Vacuolated Sperm Analysis and Zygote Quality

Background: Digital image processing and analysis are used for computer assisted evaluation of sperm morphology. Sperm head morphology has been identified as a characteristic that can be used to predict a male’s semen quality. On the other hand, zygote competence analysis is an importance tool to select embryo(s) for transfer. The aim of the present study is to determine zygote quality resulted...

Improved lag screw positioning in the treatment of proximal femur fractures using a novel computer assisted surgery method: a cadaveric study

BACKGROUND The importance of the tip-apex distance (TAD) to predict the cut-out risk of fixed angle hip implants has been widely discussed in the scientific literature. Intra-operative determination of TAD is difficult and can be hampered by image quality, body habitus, and image projection. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate, through a cadaveric study, a novel computer assisted surgery s...

Type II Intertrochanteric Fractures: Proximal Femoral Nailing (PFN) Versus Dynamic Hip Screw(DHS)

Background: Intertrochanteric fracture is one of the most common fractures of the hip especially in the elderly with osteoporotic bones, usually due to low-energy trauma like simple falls. Dynamic Hip Screw (DHS) is still considered the gold standard for treating intertrochanteric fractures by many. Not many studies compare the DHS with Proximal femoral nail (PFN), in Type II intertrochanteri...
