Corrigendum: Spatial and historic variability of benthic nitrogen cycling in an anthropogenically impacted estuary

چکیده
The authors would like to provide updated sediment porosity values for the four sampling stations included in Table 1 of the original paper, due to an error in the original calculations. The porosity corrections do not change any of the data interpretations or the text of the manuscript. For simplicity and clarity, corrections are listed below in bold and underlined font. The page number corresponds to the original paper.

Spatial and historic variability of benthic nitrogen cycling in an anthropogenically impacted estuary
*Correspondence: Robinson W. Fulweiler, Department of Earth and Environment, Boston University, 685 Commonwealth Avenue Rm. 130, Boston, MA 02215, USA e-mail: [email protected] Human activities have dramatically altered reactive nitrogen (N) availability in coastal ecosystems globally. Here we used a gradient of N loading found in a shallow temperate estuary (Waquoit Bay, Massachusetts, USA) to examin...
متن کاملPhytoplankton Community Indicators of Short- and Long- term Ecological Change in the Anthropogenically and Climatically Impacted Neuse River Estuary, North Carolina, USA
Estuarine and coastal systems represent a challenge when it comes to determining the causes of ecological change because human and natural perturbations often interact. Phytoplankton biomass (chlorophyll a) and group-specific photopigment indicators were examined from 1994 to 2007 to assess community responses to nutrient and climatic perturbations in the Neuse River Estuary, NC. This system ex...
متن کاملSpatial distribution and assemblage structure of foraminifera in Nayband Bay and Haleh Estuary, North-West of the Persian Gulf
The spatial distribution of benthic foraminiferal assemblage of Nayband Bay and Haleh Estuary in the North-West of the Persian Gulf, was explored during 2011-2012 . The relationship between spatial pattern of foraminifera assemblages and the ambient factors (i.e. water temperature, salinity, pH, dissolved oxygen, sediment grain size distribution, sediment organic content, and CaCO3 concentrati...
متن کاملSpatio - temporal variability in benthic silica cycling in two macrotidal 1 estuaries : causes and consequences for local to global studies
10 11 The high heterogeneity of silica cycling in coastal margins and the lack of silica data 12 (compared to nitrogen and phosphorus) prevent the estimation of global silica retention in 13 estuaries. In this study, the spatial and temporal variability of pore water silicic acid (Si(OH) 4) 14 profiles-that integrate benthic transport and reaction processes-was investigated at different 15 spat...
متن کاملBenthic Nutrient Fluxes from Mangrove Sediments of an Anthropogenically Impacted Estuary in Southern China
Mangroves serve as either sinks or sources for inorganic and organic nutrients and can mitigate anthropogenic nutrient pollution, control the production in adjacent systems, and prevent eutrophication. To better understand the nutrient dynamics in a subtropical mangrove, we employed a three-way approach in the Nanliu River Estuary, southern China: Pore water profiles and sediment incubations re...
