Human papillomavirus infection requires cell surface heparan sulfate.
Using pseudoinfection of cell lines, we demonstrate that cell surface heparan sulfate is required for infection by human papillomavirus type 16 (HPV-16) and HPV-33 pseudovirions. Pseudoinfection was inhibited by heparin but not dermatan or chondroitin sulfate, reduced by reducing the level of surface sulfation, and abolished by heparinase treatment. Carboxy-terminally deleted HPV-33 virus-like ...
متن کاملMislabeling in Cooked Sausage is a Seriously Increasingly Problem in Food Safety
Background: Identifying the animal species origin in meat and meat products is important for preventing adulteration and protecting consumers in terms of health and religious convictions. Species-specific polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is known as a suitable method for identifying meat species. OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to use a species-specific PCR assay for the detection of mislabeling in...
متن کاملRobust Boosting Algorithm Against Mislabeling in Multiclass Problems
We discuss robustness against mislabeling in multiclass labels for classification problems and propose two algorithms of boosting, the normalized Eta-Boost.M and Eta-Boost.M, based on the Eta-divergence. Those two boosting algorithms are closely related to models of mislabeling in which the label is erroneously exchanged for others. For the two boosting algorithms, theoretical aspects supportin...
متن کاملIdentification of meat species in pet foods using a real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay
Product mislabeling, adulteration, and substitution are increasing concerns in highly processed foods, including pet foods. Although regulations exist for pet foods, there is currently a lack of information on the prevalence of pet food mislabeling. The objective of this study was to perform a market survey of pet foods and pet treats marketed for domestic canines and felines to identify meat s...
متن کاملSpecies identification reveals mislabeling of important fish products in Iran by DNA barcoding
This study reports on the molecular identification of fish species from processed products which had a priori been classified as belonging to 5 important species in Iran for human consumption. DNA barcoding using direct sequencing of an approximately 650bp of mitochondrial Cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI) gene revealed incorrect labeling of Narrow-barred Spanish mackerel samples. High occurre...
