چکیده

In this paper we develop and demonstrate a method to estimate the reservoir pressure and a productivity index for vertical steam wells, from its production characteristic (also called output) curves. In addition, the method allows to estimate the radius of influence of the well, provided that a value of the reservoir transmisivity is available. The basic structure of the present method is: first, the measured well head mass flowrates and pressures are transformed to downhole conditions by means of a numerical simulator; then, the computed downhole va riables are fitted to a simple radial model that predicts the sandface flowrate in terms of the flowing pressure. For demonstration, the method was applied to several steam wells from the Los Azufres Leothermal field. We found excellent agreement of the model with this ample set of field data. As a bonus, the processed data allowed several inferences about the steam -producing zone of the reservoir: that thewells considered produce from relatively isolated pockets of steam, which are probably fed by nearby inmobile water; and that these feed zones are in poor hydraulic communication with the field surface waters. our method are that it provides a way to retrieve important reservoir information from usually available production characteristic curves, and that the method works from easily and accurately taken wellhead measurements. The main advantages of

A Method to Recover Useful Geothermal - Reservoir Parameters from Production Characteristic Curves

In this paper we develop and demonstrate a method to estimate the reservoir pressure, a mass productivity index, and a thermal power productivity index for vertical water-fed geothermal wells, from its production characteristic (also called output) curves. A Capillary Pressure Model for Geothermal Reservoirs

Abstract Steam-water capillary pressure is often either ignored or determined artificially in geothermal reservoir engineering. However steam-water capillary pressure plays an important role in geothermal reservoir performance and may not be substituted by air-water capillary pressure. To this end, preliminary mathematical models have been developed to calculate drainage and imbibition steam-wa...

Analysis of Geochemical and Production Well Monitoring Data — A Tool to Study the Response of Geothermal Reservoirs to Exploitation

Geothermal resources used to generate power are complex systems. The hydrother‐ mal, high-temperature geothermal reservoirs, which are the only commercially exploited ones up to now, are usually found several (1-3 km) kilometers deep, and they should be exploited in a sustainable way. Thus, in order to support decisions on optimal exploitation policies, efforts focused on investigating how rese...

Numerical Modeling of Boiling Due to Production in a Fractured Reservoir and Its Field Application

Numerical simulations were carried out to characterize the behaviors of fractured reservoirs under production which causes in-situ boiling. A radial flow model with a single production well, and a two-dimensional geothermal reservoir model with several production and injection wells were used to study the two-phase reservoir behavior. The behavior can be characterized mainly by the parameters s...

Modeling Fluid Flow and Electrical Resistivity in Fractured Geothermal Reservoir Rocks

Phase change of pore fluid (boiling/condensing) in rock cores under conditions representative of geothermal reservoirs results in alterations of the electrical resistivity of the samples. In fractured samples, phase change can result in resistivity changes that are more than an order of magnitude greater than those measured in intact samples. These results suggest that electrical resistivity mo...
