چکیده

The Speciication and Description Language (SDL) and Message Sequence Charts (MSC) are formal description techniques which gain more and more importance in the development and speciication of complex real-time systems, especially in the telecommunications area. SDL is used to describe the structure and the functional behaviour of a system while MSCs are used to describe its dynamic behaviour. Non-functional aspects such as costs, timing requirements, etc. are not integrated into the speciication process although they are important for the implementation of a real-time system. In order to reeect these important non-functional aspects in the formal speciication, SDL needs to be enhanced with additional features. In this paper we present SDL* { an annotation concept for SDL which allows for the speciication of non-functional aspects.

Specifying Real - Time Requirements for SDL Speci cations

The expressiveness of many state-transition based formal description techniques, e.g. the ITU-TS standardised Speciication and Description Language (SDL), does not capture hard real-time requirements. In telecommunications systems engineering, hard real-time requirements, however, are an important class of properties. They occur in the description of progress properties in telecommunications pr...

This paper presents an automated transition from OMT* (a formal variant of OMT) towards SDL. This work is a partial result from a larger research eeort proposing an integrated methodology and toolset based on the combination of Object-Orientation and Formal-Description Techniques. In this project OMT is used as the systems requirements analysis technique while SDL (Speciication Description Lang...

Timed Extensions for SDL

In this paper we propose some extensions necessary to enable the speci-cation and description language SDL to become an appropriate formalism for the design of real-time and embedded systems. The extensions we envisage concern both roles of SDL: First, in order to make SDL a real-time speciication language, allowing to correctly simulate and verify real-time speciications, we propose a set of a...
