Linear Algorithms with Finite Deviation

چکیده
We discuss the computation of If], where I is a positive functional on C a; b]. Any algorithm starts with some input, in typical situations this input consists of function values (f (x 1) ; : : : ; f (x n)) and the more global information f 2 K, where K C a; b] is a given set. The algorithm which makes the fullest use of the input is called the strongly optimal algorithm. We shall show that in many cases of practical interest these algorithms are not linear in (f (x 1) ; : : : ; f (x n)), in sharp contrast to the better known optimal algorithms. A weakening of the notion of strong optimality leads to algorithms with nite deviation, for these we obtain almost the same results. Furthermore some examples of linear algorithms with small deviation are given. 2

Sparse Solution of Underdetermined Linear Equations via Adaptively Iterative Thresholding
Finding the sparset solution of an underdetermined system of linear equations y = Ax has attracted considerable attention in recent years. Among a large number of algorithms, iterative thresholding algorithms are recognized as one of the most efficient and important classes of algorithms. This is mainly due to their low computational complexities, especially for large scale applications. The ai...
متن کاملDetermination of Optimal Parameters for Finite Plates with a Quasi-Square Hole
This paper aims at optimizing the parameters involved in stress analysis of perforated plates, in order to achieve the least amount of stress around the square-shaped holes located in a finite isotropic plate using metaheuristic optimization algorithms. Metaheuristics may be classified into three main classes: evolutionary, physics-based, and swarm intelligence algorithms. This research uses Ge...
متن کاملSolving Fractional Programming Problems based on Swarm Intelligence
This paper presents a new approach to solve Fractional Programming Problems (FPPs) based on two different Swarm Intelligence (SI) algorithms. The two algorithms are: Particle Swarm Optimization, and Firefly Algorithm. The two algorithms are tested using several FPP benchmark examples and two selected industrial applications. The test aims to prove the capability of the SI algorithms to s...
متن کاملNumerical Simulation of a Lead-Acid Battery Discharge Process using a Developed Framework on Graphic Processing Units
In the present work, a framework is developed for implementation of finite difference schemes on Graphic Processing Units (GPU). The framework is developed using the CUDA language and C++ template meta-programming techniques. The framework is also applicable for other numerical methods which can be represented similar to finite difference schemes such as finite volume methods on structured grid...
متن کاملAlgorithms for Computing Limit distributions of Oscillating Systems with Finite Capacity
We address the batch arrival systems with finite capacity under partial batch acceptance strategy where service times or rates oscillate between two forms according to the evolution of the number of customers in the system. Applying the theory of Markov regenerative processes and resorting to Markov chain embedding, we present a new algorithm for computing limit distributions of the number cus...
