Geometry Influence of the Unsteady Flow through the Arterial Stenosis

چکیده

Blood flow in arteries is dominated by unsteady flow phenomena. In certain circumstances, unusual hemodynamic conditions create an abnormal biological response. The stenosis can cause turbulence and reduce flow by means of viscous head losses and flow choking. Very high shear stresses near the throat of the stenosis can activate platelets and thereby induce thrombosis, which can totally block blood flow to the heart or brain. The goal of this paper is that understand how the computational techniques can be used to predict the outcome of surgical and interventional procedures aiding the physicians to decide which is the best treatment for a given individual.Blood flow through symmetric sudden expansions is studied using computational fluid dynamics technique. A simple stenossis model has been used hat consist of a 75 percent constriction for both a 2D and 3D model.
