چکیده

Increasing dietary energy density by feeding supplemented fat may enhance lactation performance as well as metabolic efficiency of lactating cows (Kronfeld 1980). Inadequate energy intake prepartum and during early lactation has been associated with increased incidences of metabolic disorders (Curtis et al. 1985) and poor reproductive performance. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of preand postpartum supplementation of dietary fat on milk production and liver triglyceride concentration in dairy cows. Twelve high yielding multiparous Friesian cows were blocked at random in 2 groups 5 weeks prior to par-turn in a Latin Square change-over design. The cows were housed individually in pens and the diets were offered ad libitum twice daily. Treatments were as follows: basal diet (mixed ration) and basal diet supplemented with 5OOg/day fat (Prilplus 10). Prilplus 10 is a protected fat and was fed with the morning feeding. Milk yield was recorded daily and milk composition determined fortnightly. Liver biopsies were taken by percutaneous needle biopsy 5 weeks before and 2 days and 5 weeks post parturition. All data were analysed statistically by analysis of variance. Results are presented in Table 1.

Effects of Feeding Rumen Protected Choline and Vitamin E on Milk Yield, Milk Composition, Dry Matter Intake, BodyCondition Score and Body Weight in Early Lactating Dairy Cows

Twenty four primiparous and multiparous Holstein cows on early lactation, beginning five weeks postpartum, were used for four weeks to investigate the effects of supplemention of rumen-protected choline (RPC) or vitamin E on milk yield, milk composition, dry matter intake, body condition score and body weight. The cows were randomly assigned to one of the following treatments: I)no supplement (...

Effects of Milking Frequency on Milk Production and Composition of Holstein Cows during Their First Three Lactations

The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of milking frequency (two times daily vs. three times daily) on the 305-d lactation milk, fat and protein yield and fat and protein percentage of Holstein dairy cows in Morocco. Data analyzed were 31400 records collected between 2009 and 2016 on 14272 cows raised in 194 herds. The frequency of milking had significant effects (P<...

Effects of Fat Supplementation and Chop Length on Milk Composition and Ruminal Fermentation of Cows Fed Diets Containing Alfalfa Silage

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of fat supplementation for enhancing milk conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) in early lactation without affecting ruminal fermentation. 24 Holstein dairy cows were assigned to a completely randomized design employing a 2 × 4 factorial arrangement. Factors were particle size (15 and 25 mm) and two different sources of alfalfa supplemented with and wit...

Effects of Feeding Methylthio Butyric Acid Isopropyl Ester on Postpartum Performance and Metabolism in Dairy Cows

The present experiment aimed to evaluate the effect of HMBi on the production performance and metabolism in dairy cows. Thirty multiparous Holstein dairy cows under similar conditions were randomly assigned to three dietary treatments; i) Control, a basal diet; ii) T1, a basal diet plus HMBi (0 g prepartum and 18 g postpartum); and iii) T2, a basal diet plus HMBi (10 g prepartum and 18 g postpa...

Milk Production and Composition, and Intake of Holstein Lactating Cows Fed Diets with Partial Substitution of Soybean Meal with Flaked Field Pea

The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of a partial substitution of soybean meal with field pea (Pisum sativum) in Holstein lactating dairy cow diets on dry matter intake, milk yield and composition, blood metabolites, rumen ammonia-N concentration and pH. Eighteen lactating Holstein cows were randomly assigned into three groups based on parity, days in milk, and mil...
