Anterior leaflet on the leash: unusual cause of congenital severe mitral regurgitation.

چکیده
Isolated-congenital mitral regurgitation is infrequently seen in adults. In its mechanism, the entire mitral apparatus or different components separately can play a role [Gallet B. Use of echocardiography in mitral regurgitation for the assessment of its mechanism and aetiology for the morphological analysis of the mitral valve. Ann Cardiol Angeiol 2003;52(2):70-7; Valdes-Cruz LM, O'Cayre R. Echocardiographic Diagnosis of Congenital Heart Disease. Philadelphia, NY: Lippincott-Raven; 1998; Carpentier A, Branchini B, Cour JC, Asfaou E, Villani M, Deloche A et al. Congenital malformations of the mitral valve in children. Pathology and surgical treatment. J Thorac Cardiovasc Surg 1976;72: 854-66]. We report a case of an unusual congenital mitral regurgitation resulting from restriction of the mitral leaflet caused by thick fibrotic tissue connecting left atrial roof and the anterior leaflet precluding sufficient coaptation. To the best of our knowledge, this pathology has never been reported before.

An isolated anterior mitral leaflet cleft: a case report
INTRODUCTION The anterior mitral leaflet cleft is an unusual congenital lesion most often encountered in association with other congenital heart defects. The isolated anterior leaflet cleft is quite a rare anomaly and is usually cause of mitral valve regurgitation. The importance of the lesion is that it is often correctable. When feasible, cleft suture and, eventually, annuloplasty are prefera...
متن کاملBlood cyst of the anterior mitral leaflet causing severe mitral regurgitation.
We report a case of blood cyst of the anterior mitral leaflet leading to severe mitral regurgitation and heart failure in a 70-year-old woman with no other factors that could explain the severe mitral regurgitation.

BACKGROUND In hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a spectrum of mitral leaflet abnormalities has been related to the mechanism of mitral systolic anterior motion (SAM), which causes both subaortic obstruction and mitral regurgitation. In the individual patient, SAM and regurgitation vary in parallel; clinically, however, great interindividual differences in mitral regurgitation can occur for comparabl...
متن کاملImages in cardiovascular medicine: prosthetic aortic valve and conduit dehiscence with large periconduit cavity, ascending aortic aneurysm and severe mitral regurgitation.
Prosthetic aortic valve and conduit dehiscence with periconduit cavity and ascending aortic aneurysm is an uncommon complication of aortic root surgery. It is usually recognizable at echocardiography due to an abnormal position of the prosthetic valve and conduit in relation to the native aortic annulus in conjunction with an abnormal echolucent periconduit space that fills with color flow. Mit...
متن کاملCongenital aortic valve disease with rupture of mitral chordae tendineae.
A new clinical entity is described in which free aortic regurgitation from congenital aortic valve disease caused rupture of the chordae to the anterior leaflet of the mitral valve in 7 men aged 45 to 63 years (mean 52 years); 2 of the patients also had rupture of chordae to the posterior leaflet. Comparing these patients with those with ruptured mitral chordae in association with rheumatic he...
