Principles of Drug Metabolism
نویسنده
چکیده
Xenobiotic metabolism, which includes drug metabolism, has become a major pharmacological science with particular relevance to biology, therapeutics and toxicology. Drug metabolism is also of great importance inmedicinal chemistry because it influences in qualitative, quantitative, and kinetic terms the deactivation, activation, detoxification, and toxification of the vast majority of drugs. As a result, medicinal chemists engaged in drug discovery and development should be able to integrate metabolic considerations into drug design. To do so, however, requires a fair or even good knowledge of xenobiotic metabolism. This chapter, which is written by a medicinal chemist for medicinal chemists, aims at offering knowledge and understanding rather than encyclopedic information. Readerswanting to go further in the study of xenobiotic metabolism may consult various classical or recent books [1–15], broad reviews, and book chapters [16–27].

Objective(s): Many cancer cells show significant resistance to drugs that kill drug sensitive cancer cells and non-tumor cells and such resistance might be a consequence of the difference in metabolism. Therefore, studying the metabolism of drug resistant cancer cells and comparison with drug sensitive and normal cell lines is the objective of this research. Material and Methods:Metabolism of c...
متن کاملA New Model to Describe the Single-dose Pharmacokinetics of Bevacizumab and Predict Its Multiple-Dose Pharmacokinetics in Beagle Dogs
Complex pharmacokinetic (PK) properties including nonlinear elimination were encountered by some monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), and classic compartment models sometimes failed to appropriately describe those properties. In this work, a new model was built on a comprehensive analysis of the complex elimination of mAbs. This new model was firstly utilized to fit with the single-dose plasma concent...
