چکیده
In this paper we show that the multicast problem in trees can be expressed in term of arranging rows and columns of boolean matrices Given a p q matrix M with entries the shadow of M is de ned as a boolean vector x of q entries such that xi if and only if there is no entry in the ith column of M and xi otherwise The shadow x can also be seen as the binary expression of the integer x Pq i xi q i Similarly every row of M can be seen as the binary expression of an integer According to this formalism the key for solving a multicast problem in trees is shown to be the following Given a p q matrixM with entries nding a matrixM such that M has at most one entry per column every row r of M viewed as the binary expression of an integer is larger than the corresponding row r of M r p and the shadow of M viewed as an integer is minimum We show that there is an O q p q algorithm that returnsM for any p q boolean matrixM The application of this result is the following Given a directed tree T whose arcs are oriented from the root toward the leaves and a subset of nodes D there exists a polynomial time algorithm that computes an optimal multi cast protocol from the root to all nodes of D in the all port line model

Optimal Contention-Free Unicast-Based Multicasting in Switch-Based Networks of Workstations
A unicast-based multicasting algorithm is presented for arbitrary interconnection networks arising in switchbased networks of workstations. The algorithm is optimal with respect to the number of startups incurred and is provably free from depth contention. Speci cally, no two constituent unicasts for the same multicast contend for a common channel, even if some unicasts are delayed due to unpre...
متن کاملMulticast on Irregular Switch-Based Networks with Wormhole Routing
This paper presents efficient multicasting with reduced contention on irregular networks with switchbased wormhole interconnection and unicast message passing. First, it is proved that for an arbitrary irregular network with a typical deadlock-free, adaptive routing, it may not be possible to create an ordered list of nodes to implement an arbitrary multicast in a contention-free manner with mi...

The irregular switch-based network of workstations is fast becoming a cost-eeective platform for high performance computing. This paper presents eecient multicasting with reduced link contention on irregular networks with switch-based cut-through interconnection and unicast message passing. First, it is proved that for an arbitrary irregular network with a typical deadlock-free, adaptive routin...
متن کاملApplication of immobilized microbial cells in biological treatment of contaminated effluent with aromatic compounds: a review article
Background and Objective: Bioremediation of contaminants by living microorganisms is a favorable method for elimination or degradation of pollutants to less harmful substances. In the recent decades, cell immobilization technique has been applied to improve biodegradation efficiency and also overcome to free cells disadvantages. The purpose of this review article is to investigate the applicati...
