چکیده

iii DEDICATION This is dedicated to my wife Marianne, without whose support this project would never have been possible. iv ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS I would like to thank Kris Gaj for encouraging me to pursue this project and for his sense of humor about the difficulties I have had in finishing it. I would also like to thank the good taxpayers of Virginia for their wisdom in supporting George Mason University.

CPU Time Jitter Based Non-Physical True Random Number Generator

Today’s operating systems provide non-physical true random number generators which are based on hardware events. With the advent of virtualization and the ever growing need of more high-quality entropy, these random number generators reach their limits. Additional sources of entropy must be opened up. This document introduces an entropy source based on CPU execution time jitter. The design and ...

Design of low power random number generators for quantum-dot cellular automata

Quantum-dot cellular automata (QCA) are a promising nanotechnology to implement digital circuits at the nanoscale. Devices based on QCA have the advantages of faster speed, lower power consumption, and greatly reduced sizes. In this paper, we are presented the circuits, which generate random numbers in QCA.  Random numbers have many uses in science, art, statistics, cryptography, gaming, gambli...

SPICE Simulation of a "Provably Secure" True Random Number Generator

In their paper “A Provably Secure True Random Number Generator with Built-in Tolerance to Active Attacks”, B. Sunar, W. Martin, and D. Stinson propose a design for a true random number generator. Using SPICE simulation we study the behaviour of their random number generator and show that practical implementations result in a too high frequency signal to be processed with current CMOS technology.

A novel design method for discrete time chaos based true random number generators

Discrete time chaos based true random number generators are lightweight cryptographic primitives that offer scalable performance for the emerging low power mobile applications. In this work, a novel design method for discrete time chaos based true random number generators is developed using skew tent map as a case study. Optimum parameter values yielding maximum randomness are calculated using ...

A Novel Design of a random Generator Circuit in QCA

CMOS miniaturization limits have improved research on other advanced alternative technologies. Quantum Cellular Automata (QCA) is a nanometer scale technology that is one of these alternatives. Two principals have been introducedin the concept of Random Number Generator which are related to some physical occurrences or computational algorithms. In this paper we introduce a QCA circuit which is ...
