چکیده
In this paper we discuss the role that a video data base may play in a digital video archive and some of the challenges that video data bases are facing Prob lems related to large scale storage and delivery of video data are brie y discussed while a modelling and query ing aspecs are treated more thoroughly We propose a generic data model that captures video data struc tures and that supports thematic indexing of a video stream A video archive prototype based on a simpli ed version of the data model is presented and some of the experiences made are discussed
