Single Pulse Phase-Control Interferometric Coherent anti-Stokes Raman Scattering Spectroscopy (CARS)

چکیده
In coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering spectroscopy (CARS) experiments, usually the amplitude of the signal is measured and the phase information is lost. With a polarizationand phase-controlled pulse shaping technique, the relative phase between the resonant and non-resonant CARS signals is controlled, and spectral interferometry is performed without an interferometer. Both the real and imaginary parts of the background-free resonant CARS spectrum are measured via spectral interferometry between the resonant and non-resonant signals from the same sample. The resonant signal is amplified significantly by homodyne mixing with the non-resonant signal as a local oscillator, greatly improving the detection limit.

Coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) processes are "coherent," but the phase of the anti-Stokes radiation is lost by most incoherent spectroscopic CARS measurements. We propose a Raman microscopy imaging method called nonlinear interferometric vibrational imaging, which measures Raman spectra by obtaining the temporal anti-Stokes signal through nonlinear interferometry. With a more comp...
متن کاملTemperature Measurements in Flames at 1000 Hz Using Femtosecond Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Spectroscopy
[Abstract] Single-laser-shot temperature measurements at a data rate of 1 kHz are demonstrated using femtosecond coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) spectroscopy. The excitation of gas-phase Raman lines with spectral widths of 3 GHz by pump and Stokes beams with spectral widths of 3000 GHz is very efficient provided that the pump and Stokes beams are Fouriertransform-limited. The singl...

We demonstrate two complementary types of microscopy using an identical setup for single-pulse coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) imaging, which employs an ultrabroadband laser pulse with a spectral bandwidth of 4800 cm(-1) and enables the suppression of nonresonant CARS signals. One is a novel type of microscopy that uses spectral phase modulation for the selective excitation of a si...
متن کاملInterferometric switching of coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering signals in microscopy.
Coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) interferometry is used to deplete the anti-Stokes radiation emerging from a tightly focused spot. Near-to-complete depletion of the anti-Stokes radiation is obtained when a phase-controlled local oscillator field at the anti-Stokes frequency is out of phase with the induced CARS field in the focal volume. Unlike in traditional interferometry, this de...
متن کاملSingle-fiber-laser-based wavelength tunable excitation for coherent Raman spectroscopy
We demonstrate coherent Raman spectroscopy (CRS) using a tunable excitation source based on a single femtosecond fiber laser. The frequency difference between the pump and the Stokes pulses was generated by soliton self-frequency shifting in a nonlinear optical fiber. Spectra of C─H stretches of cyclohexane were measured simultaneously by stimulated Raman gain (SRG) and coherent anti-Stokes Ram...
