A stellar coronograph for the COME - ON - PLUS adaptive optics system ?
نویسنده
چکیده
We present here the first scientific results obtained with the coronograph described by Beuzit et al. (1996, hereafter paper I), developed to be used together with the come-on-plus/adonis adaptive optics (AO) system. Two IRAS excess Main Sequence (MS) stars, namely HR 4796 and HR 2020 (β Pictoris), have been observed. No circumstellar disk is detected around HR 4796, down to 2′′ from the star. This new constraint on its circumstellar environment is discussed. The photometry in the J, H, and K bands allows us to derive a G0 to G2 spectral type for a faint companion located at 4.7′′. TheβPictoris disk is detected through scattered light as close as 1.5′′ from the star. We derive the radial mid-plane brightness from 1.5′′ to 6′′, and the FWHM from 2′′ to 6′′. We compare our results with other observations: here, the disk appears thinner than previously, and its surface brightness radial distribution gets flatter in the inner part. These results are then discussed in terms of density of the circumstellar matter.

High Angular Resolution Coronography for Adaptive Optics 1
Recent adaptive optics systems in astronomy achieve high-angular resolution. With the extreme stability of the images, detection at very low uxes can be reached using a coronograph at the diiraction limit of the telescopes. This paper is an overview of the issues of stellar coronography used at the diiraction limit. Image formation through such a system is illustrated by numerical simulations. ...
متن کاملCoronography with adaptive optics: the ADONIS coronograph
The combination of adaptive optics and coronographic techniques providing at the same time high angular resolution and high dynamic range is a powerful tool to study the close environment of bright objects in different fields of astrophysics (search for brown dwarfs and giant extra-solar planets around nearby stars, search for circumstellar disks, study of AGB outflows, etc). We present in this...
متن کاملKlio: A 5 micron camera for the detection of giant exoplanets
We plan to take advantage of the unprecedented combination of low thermal background and high resolution provided by the 6.5m MMT’s adaptive secondary mirror, to target the 3-5 micron atmospheric window where giant planets are expected to be anomalously bright. We are in the process of building a 3-5 micron coronograph that is predicted to be sensitive to planets as close as 0.4 arcsec to the p...
متن کاملAdaptive Fuzzy Dynamic Sliding Mode Control of Nonlinear Systems
Two phenomena can produce chattering: switching of input control signal and the large amplitude of this switching (switching gain). To remove the switching of input control signal, dynamic sliding mode control (DSMC) is used. In DSMC switching is removed due to the integrator which is placed before the plant. However, in DSMC the augmented system (system plus the integrator) is one dimension bi...
متن کاملActive Optics and Coronography with the Hubble Space Telescope
In the eld of planet and proto-planetary disk detection, achieving high angular resolution and high dynamic range is a necessity. Ground images are blurred by atmospheric turbulence and therefore adaptive optics is necessary to achieve sub-arcsecond images. Coronography coupled with adaptive optics on ground-based telescopes is a way to get both good spatial resolution and high dynamic range. H...
