Mouse Dynamics Biometric Technology

چکیده
Different types of biometrics are currently available in the market, and are widely used in various security applications. Biometrics can be classified into two categories, “physiological biometrics” and “behavioral biometrics”. Physiological biometrics identify the user based on physiological characteristics, such as fingerprints and eye retina/iris scanning, whereas behavioral biometrics depend on detecting the behavioral features of the user, such as signature, voice, and keystroke dynamics. The utilization of biometrics, however, has so far been limited to identity verification in authentication and access control systems. Hence important security applications such as intrusion detection systems have been left out of this technology. We have identified two primary reasons for that. First, most biometric systems require special hardware device for biometrics data collection, which restricts their use to only networks segments that provide them, making the systems irrelevant for a significant number of remote users, who operate out of these network segments. Second, most biometric systems require an active involvement of the user who is asked to provide some data sample that can be used to verify his identity. This excludes the possibility of passive monitoring, which is essential for intrusion detection. There is also number of secondary obstacles to the use of biometrics for intrusion aBstract

A Behavioral Biometric Approach Based on Standardized Resolution in Mouse Dynamics
Mouse dynamics is a form of behavioral biometrics that can be used for several security applications. Similar to keystroke dynamics, mouse dynamics does not required special hardware device for data collection. We target biometric identification problem by focusing on extracting the behavioral features related to the user and using this features for computer security. Standardized mouse dynamic...
متن کاملMouse Interaction based Authentication System by Classifying the Distance Travelled by the Mouse
Behavioral biometric based systems as a solution of authentication challenge are appealing because of various reasons – unlike other password based or physiological property based systems, there is no chance of acquiring behavioral properties by someone else. In the proposed work, mouse interaction dynamics has been exploited for user authentication

متن کاملSupervised learning methods for biometric authentication on mobile devices
We develop fraud detection and user authentication classifiers for mobile keystroke and haptic patterns, achieving 84% accuracy, 90% recall, and 81% precision within one model architecture, and 99% recall and 83% precision across all models. In addition to proposing these models that outperform existing touch dynamics authentication models, we present a secure, space-efficient, and extensible f...
متن کاملA Preliminary Study of a New Soft Biometric: Finger Recognition for Keystroke Dynamics
Keystroke dynamics is an interesting biometric modality as a user can be authenticated while typing a passphrase or a password on a keyboard. In order to improve the accuracy of biometric systems, it is possible to exploit some prior information that can be known or extracted from the biometric raw data. This process is known as ”soft biometrics”. In this paper, we propose a new soft biometric ...
