چکیده

The expected number of real zeros of the polynomial of the form a0 a1x a2x · · · anx, where a0, a1, a2, . . . , an is a sequence of standard Gaussian random variables, is known. For n large it is shown that this expected number in −∞,∞ is asymptotic to 2/π logn. In this paper, we show that this asymptotic value increases significantly to √ n 1 when we consider a polynomial in the form a0 ( n 0 )1/2 x/ √ 1 a1 ( n 1 )1/2 x2/ √ 2 a2 ( n 2 )1/2 x3/ √ 3 · · · an ( n n )1/2 x 1/ √ n 1 instead. We give the motivation for our choice of polynomial and also obtain some other characteristics for the polynomial, such as the expected number of level crossings or maxima. We note, and present, a small modification to the definition of our polynomial which improves our result from the above asymptotic relation to the equality.

On Classifications of Random Polynomials

Let $ a_0 (omega), a_1 (omega), a_2 (omega), dots, a_n (omega)$ be a sequence of independent random variables defined on a fixed probability space $(Omega, Pr, A)$. There are many known results for the expected number of real zeros of a polynomial $ a_0 (omega) psi_0(x)+ a_1 (omega)psi_1 (x)+, a_2 (omega)psi_2 (x)+...

Bernoulli collocation method with residual correction for solving integral-algebraic equations

The principal aim of this paper is to serve the numerical solution of an integral-algebraic equation (IAE) by using the Bernoulli polynomials and the residual correction method. After implementation of our scheme, the main problem would be transformed into a system of algebraic equations such that its solutions are the unknown Bernoulli coefficients. This method gives an analytic solution when ...

Algebraic Polynomials with Random Coefficients with Binomial and Geometric Progressions

The expected number of real zeros of an algebraic polynomial ao a1x a2x · · · anx with random coefficient aj , j 0, 1, 2, . . . , n is known. The distribution of the coefficients is often assumed to be identical albeit allowed to have different classes of distributions. For the nonidentical case, there has been much interest where the variance of the jth coefficient is var aj ( n j ) . It is sh...

Operational matrices with respect to Hermite polynomials and their applications in solving linear differential equations with variable coefficients

In this paper, a new and efficient approach is applied for numerical approximation of the linear differential equations with variable coeffcients based on operational matrices with respect to Hermite polynomials. Explicit formulae which express the Hermite expansion coeffcients for the moments of derivatives of any differentiable function in terms of the original expansion coefficients of the f...

Numerical Solution of Weakly Singular Ito-Volterra Integral Equations via Operational Matrix Method based on Euler Polynomials

Introduction Many problems which appear in different sciences such as physics, engineering, biology, applied mathematics and different branches can be modeled by using deterministic integral equations. Weakly singular integral equation is one of the principle type of integral equations which was introduced by Abel for the first time. These problems are often dependent on a noise source which a...
