چکیده

Sensitivity Analysis (SA) is a key element in the Performance Assessment (PA) of a Radioactive High Level Waste (HLW) Repository. It helps gaining information about the system, understanding the relation between input parameters and output variables and steering new experimental and theoretical research to increase the degree of knowledge about the system. The Integrated Project (IP) PAMINA is devoting a large effort to the research in this area and the dissemination of results among its partners. Among the activities under development are a review of SA methods, a benchmark of SA techniques and the application of different SA techniques to a PA results coming from several national programs. After the end of this activity, PAMINA partners will get a better understanding of the rationale behind every available technique and about their capabilities and shortcomings.

Uncertainty and sensitivity analysis in performance assessment for the proposed high-level radioactive waste repository at Yucca Mountain, Nevada

Extensive work has been carried out by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in the development of a proposed geologic repository at Yucca Mountain (YM), Nevada, for the disposal of high-level radioactive waste. As part of this development, a detailed performance assessment (PA) for the YM repository was completed in 2008 and supported a license application by the DOE to the U.S. Nuclear Regulato...

Sensitivity Analysis of Seals Permeability and Performance Assessment of Deep Borehole Disposal of Radioactive Waste

The concept of disposal of high-level radioactive waste in deep boreholes, and probabilistic performance assessment (PA) of a generic disposal system are described. A series of preliminary PA simulations, conducted to evaluate the possible migration of radionuclides to an accessible environment, are presented. The PA simulations provide estimates of radionuclide releases and mean annual radiati...

A Robust SAR NLFM Waveform Selection Based on the Total Quality Assessment Techniques

Design, simulation and optimal selection of cosine-linear frequency modulation waveform (CNLFM) based on correlated ambiguity function (AF) method for the purpose of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is done in this article. The selected optimum CNLFM waveform in contribution with other waveforms are applied directly into a SAR image formation algorithm (IFA) and their quality effects performance ...

Yucca Mountain 2008 Performance Assessment: Uncertainty and Sensitivity Analysis for Physical Processes

The Total System Performance Assessment (TSPA) for the proposed high level radioactive waste repository at Yucca Mountain, Nevada, uses a sampling-based approach to uncertainty and sensitivity analysis. Specifically, Latin hypercube sampling is used to generate a mapping between epistemically uncertain analysis inputs and analysis outcomes of interest. This results in distributions that charact...

Simulation and Assessment of Surfactant Injection in Fractured Reservoirs: A Sensitivity Analysis of some Uncertain Parameters

Fracture reservoirs contain most of the oil reserves of the Middle East. Such reservoirs are poorly understood and recovery from fractured reservoirs is typically lower than those from conventional reservoirs. Many efforts have been made to enhance the recovery and production potential of these reservoirs. Fractured reservoirs with high matrix porosity and low matrix permeability need a seconda...
