Building a UML Profile for MultiTEL
نویسندگان
چکیده
A UML profile for a system or an application is a standard means for expressing the semantics of this system or application using a set of predefined extensions to UML. UML profiles allow all stakeholders of a system to share a common graphical notation and vocabulary, and permit more precise specifications and better documentation on how to use and customize systems. In this paper we present a UML profile for MultiTEL, a framework particularly well suited for the development of multimedia and collaborative applications in open distributed environments, such as the Internet. We show how to build such a UML profile, and how systems designers can use it to derive and document application frameworks for multimedia applications.

Using UML Profiles for Documenting Web-Based Application Frameworks
The Web now offers an exceptional infrastructure for the development of distributed collaborative services and applications. However, most of the existing applications only make use of the Web access and visualization facilities, without exploiting its distributed-processing potential capabilities. Web technologies are currently more focused on the provision of semantics to data and the design ...
متن کاملLeveraging Patterns on Domain Models to Improve UML Profile Definition
Building a reliable UML profile is a difficult activity that requires the use of complex mechanisms -stereotypes and their attributes, OCL enforcementto define a domain-specific modeling language (DSML). Despite the ever increasing number of profiles being built in many domains, there is a little published literature available to help DSML designers. Without a clear design process, most such pr...
متن کاملA Reference Implementation for UML
In this paper, we consider the problem of building a reference implementation (RI) to support a proposed semantics for UML . The purpose of the RI is to enable the automated exploration of the semantics and to permit tool vendors to verify tool compliance. In doing so, we consider the support required to implement UML profiles; specific extensions of UML that are based on a common semantic core...
متن کاملTowards a UML profile for interaction design: the Wisdom approach
The UML is recognized to be the dominant diagrammatic modeling language in the software industry. However, it’s support for building interactive systems is still acknowledged to be insufficient. There is a common misconception that the same models developed to support the design of the application internals are also adequate to support interaction design, leveraging the usability aspects of the...
متن کاملApplying Model-Driven Development to Business Systems using RM-ODP and EDOC
Improving development efficiency and maintainability for business systems requires a seamless development process, and both RM-ODP and MDA play a key role to this end. This paper shows our Model-Driven Development process in building business systems using RM-ODP and UML Profile for EDOC, with a case study of Electronic Health Record system models, and discusses several issues related to RM-ODP...
