چکیده

It has often been cited that a water distribution system (WDS) hydraulic model needs to be highly accurate before it may be used in combination with a water quality model (WQM) to simulate the dispersion and decay of a residual disinfectant. However, even a well-calibrated WDS hydraulic model may not have data relating to the specific water demands during a given period, which may impede WQM calibration. Modelling Dissolved Oxygen/Sediment Oxygen Demand under Ice in a Shallow Eutrophic Prairie Reservoir

Dissolved oxygen is an influential factor of aquatic ecosystem health. Future predictions of oxygen deficits are paramount for maintaining water quality. Oxygen demands depend greatly on a waterbody’s attributes. A large sediment–water interface relative to volume means sediment oxygen demand has greater influence in shallow systems. In shallow, ice-covered waterbodies the potential for winter ...

Parameterization and Sampling Design for Water Networks Demand Calibration Using the Singular Value Decomposition: Application to a Real Network

The availability of a good hydraulic model increases the reliability of the results of methodologies using it. Thus, the calibration of the model is a previous step that has to be done. The most uncertain parameters of the model are demands due to their constant variability. However, calibrating these demands requires a high computational cost that can be reduced by redefining the unknown param...

Multisite Evaluation of APEX for Water Quality: I. Best Professional Judgment Parameterization.

The Agricultural Policy Environmental eXtender (APEX) model is capable of estimating edge-of-field water, nutrient, and sediment transport and is used to assess the environmental impacts of management practices. The current practice is to fully calibrate the model for each site simulation, a task that requires resources and data not always available. The objective of this study was to compare m...

Potential Impacts of Climate Warming on Water Supply Reliability in the Tuolumne and Merced River Basins, California

We present an integrated hydrology/water operations simulation model of the Tuolumne and Merced River Basins, California, using the Water Evaluation and Planning (WEAP) platform. The model represents hydrology as well as water operations, which together influence water supplied for agricultural, urban, and environmental uses. The model is developed for impacts assessment using scenarios for cli...

Autocalibration of Chlorine Transport Model for Steady State Distribution System by Genetic Algorithm

The chlorine reaction kinetics within a distribution system is affected by the reactions occurring in the bulk flow in a pipe and at the pipe wall. The field determination of parameters governing the wall reactions of a pipe is difficult and hence these are a product of calibration. The autocalibration of a chlorine transport model consists of estimating these unknown parameters by comparing th...
