Structural Characterization on Index of DAEs in Hybrid Analysis for General Circuits
نویسندگان
چکیده
Modern modeling approaches for circuit simulation such as the modified nodal analysis (MNA) lead to differential-algebraic equations (DAEs). The index of a DAE is a measure of the degree of numerical difficulty. In general, the higher the index is, the more difficult it is to solve the DAE. The index of DAEs arising from MNA has been characterized by the network structure. In this paper, we consider a broader class of analysis method called the hybrid analysis. For nonlinear time-varying circuits with general dependent sources, we give a structural characterization for the index of DAEs arising from the hybrid analysis. This enables us to determine the index efficiently, which helps to avoid solving higher index DAEs in circuit simulation.

Constraint Preserving Integrators for General Nonlinear Higher Index Daes
In the last few years there has been considerable research on numerical methods for diierential algebraic equations (DAEs) f(x 0 ; x; t) = 0 where f x 0 is identically singular. The index provides one measure of the singularity of a DAE. Most of the numerical analysis literature on DAEs to date has dealt with DAEs with indices no larger than three. Even in this case, the systems were often assu...
متن کاملTowards Integrating Hybrid DAEs with a High-Index DAE Solver
J.D. Pryce and N.S. Nedialkov have developed a Taylor series method and a C++ package, Daets, for solving numerically an initial-value problem differential-algebraic equation (DAE) that can be of high index, high order, nonlinear, and fully implicit. Numerical results have shown this method to be efficient and very accurate, and particularly suitable for problems that are of too high an index f...

Quasi-linear differential-algebraic equations (DAEs) are essential tools for modeling dynamical processes, e.g. for mechanical systems, electrical circuits or chemical reactions. These models are in general of higher index and contain so called hidden constraints which lead to instabilities and order reductions during numerical integration of the model equations. In this article we consider dyn...

Electric circuits are present in a number of applications, e.g. in home computers, television, credit cards, electric power networks, etc. The development of integrated circuit requires numerical simulation. Modern modeling techniques like the Modi ed Nodal Analysis (MNA) lead to di erential algebraic equations (DAEs). Properties like the stability of solutions of such systems depend strongly o...

In recent years, size of VLSI circuits is dramatically grown and layout generation of current circuits has become a dominant task in design flow. Standard cell placement is an effective stage of physical design and quality of placement affects directly on the performance, power consumption and signal immunity of design. Placement can be performed analytically or heuristically. Analytical placer...
