valuation of diphenyl dimethyl bicarboxylate (DDB) as a probable epato- protector in rats against whole body gamma irradiation

چکیده
any antioxidants have been studied as hepatoprotectors against ionizing radiation injury ince they reduce the oxidative effect of the reactive oxygen species to normal cells. Diphenyl imethyl bicarboxylate (DDB) has been clinically used against chemically damaged liver since has an antioxidant action for scavenging free radicals and inhibiting lipid peroxidation eactions. Ionizing radiation is known to induce disturbances in serum liver aspartate minotransferase and alanine aminotransferase (AST and ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP) ctivities and proteins (total protein, albumin and globulin) levels. The aim of the present work as to evaluate if DDB preor/and posttreatments have a hepatoprotector effect against amma (γ) irradiation damaged liver. DDB was administered daily with a dose of 50 mg/Kg ody weight to whole body irradiated rats with 4.5 Grey (Gy). A follow up period of five weeks ost-irradiation showed an improvement in the disturbed different parameters in the irradiated roup. The pre-treated, post-treated and preand post-treated animals with DDB against radiation showed earlier and potent improvement, since it increased total protein and lbumin levels to near that of the control. On the other hand, DDB reduced the altered activity f AST, ALT and ALP earlier than the irradiated group. It was concluded that all the eatments with DDB have a hepato-radioprotective effect and the preand posttreatment as the most potent effect against the alterations induced by irradiation.

In this study, dimethyl-4,4'-dimethoxy-5,6,5',6'-dimethylene dioxybiphenyl-2,2'-dicarboxylate (DDB) was examined to justify its role in the hepatoprotection against erythromycin toxicity in male rats. Oral daily administration of toxic dose of erythromycin stearate (EE, 100 mg/kg body weight) was given to male rats for fourteen days to induce hepatotoxicity. It was found at the end of the exper...
متن کاملDiphenyl Dimethyl Bicarboxylate in the Treatment of Viral Hepatitis, Adjuvant or Curative?
Diphenyl dimethyl bicarboxylate (DDB) has been used in some countries as hepatoprotectant adjuvant in the treatment of liver diseases, such as chronic viral hepatitis, chemical or drug induced hepatic damage. Its early confirmed efficacy is to normalize elevated blood alanine aminotransferase (ALT) from different etiologies, however, it can rarely affect the rest hepatic enzymes. In addition, t...
